I've always eaten home cooked food (my OH is a particularly good cook) When we eat out we avoid fast food.

But, as we get older (and watched some friends and family succumb to poor dit choices) we have become a little more careful with our diet.

For those interested I thought I'd open a thread to discuss the food industry in general.

I'll kick off with this article for your delictation.

The food industry is corrupt, i now and then get a Mcdonalds with my son and stick to chicken and it's funny how all the foods they tell you to avoid are better for you. It's the same as big Pharma mocking natural remedies that have been used for thousands of years, it's all bollox!! I like to cook my own food as i love it, i wanted to be a chef many moons ago. :)

You only have to look at a very simple fact... How many of these so called food companies are actually owned by a pharmaceutical parent company.. I'd touch fucking zero they say was good for us 👍

I just try and buy local as much as possible and avoid over processed food
but a Big Mac now and then doesn’t hurt
eating nothing but fast foods and ping meals is bad
ignoring scientists is also a good idea
As far as beef is concerned Mac Ds isn't bad they have decent quality.. Personally I'd not bother but it certainly ain't the worst and some people view it as a bit of a treat/cheat 👍

My son eats a lot of shit food and i do have a go but he's a big lad who works hard at Southampton docks and has the excuse of convenience :) , he does day and night shifts on the cranes and straddle carrier's.

I don't count calories but pretty much everything I eat is natural and high protein nearly no sugar or carbs unless they happen to be a small part of my food.. Best decision I ever made as I have no joint pains despite thinking I needed my knees done in my early 40s got rid of the sugar and all my joint inflammation went and my training worked much better with high protein.. I'm absolutely blessed as my misses is big into looking after us food wise.. She's 55 and in great shape and the bitch looks younger than me 👀 exercise is 15% diet is 85% 👌 a discreet picture taken this year my misses hates pictures been taken here was a sneaky one during the summer 😆

As i get older my fucked back and right leg are slowly getting worse, the cold weather fucks my right leg up after becoming a fucking cyborg but once out on the bike that all goes and is the best therapy for me. It's going to be cold tomorrow but i have the gear so will be out and about on the 900ie and no salt on the roads YET. :)

I read this article the other day which is fascinating :

Then was sent this:

This ^ is about an 82 year old woman (I think she has had 10 children) She looks no older than 55 and has lived on a carnivore diet since she was 19. It would appear that there is no need for carbohydrates in our diet whatsoever (other than to feed the soul).

As I've mentioned a few times, I am a carnivore, meaning I only eat meat, butter, a few eggs and the odd bit of cheese. On friday I will have done this for 6 months.

The only exceptions have been the odd beer after golf or out with mates (meaning just one, maybe two), and early on when I was still sugar addicted and would get cravings, I'd fall off the wagon and eat a load of chocolate biscuits - then feel shit the next day; sluggish yet heart racing, brain fog; bloated feeling.

Then within a day or so of eating properly, I was back to feeling great. I feel like I'm heading towards my full potential and keeps getting better.

As an elimination diet, you become in tune with your body and how it reacts. I mostly eat beef as that satiates me better than other meats. And it needs to be fattier cuts of meat.

Everything we're told by the 'experts' about nutrition, is the opposite of what is good for us. As Skitz said above, Big Food and Big Pharma are inextricably linked. One sells you the crap that makes people sick, and the other sells you pills to mask the symptoms. It is traced back to proven fraudulent studies, and religious groups who promote a vegetarian lifestyle (Seventh Day Eventists).

As carnivore is growing, indoctrinated nutritionists call it a 'fad' diet' - bullshit...if it is, it's been a fad for a couple of million years.

They promote 'healthy vegetable based diets' and while meat consumption goes down, illness and disease go up. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate - humans don't need them. There is only one food source that can provide ALL ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS and that is meat.

I'll expand on this in a few days when I've got six months under my ever-loosening belt. But for me, this is just how I eat now, it isn't a diet, and becuase of it I know I won't put the weight back on - never, because I have zero desire to eat the stuff I used to. I had been a yo-yo dieter all my life because when I'd lost weight previously, I was still eating carbs in the veg I was eating, so that was keeping me sugar addicted. Now I avoid it at all costs because of how it makes me feel.

Forget about so called diets or even lifestyle... Look at the proof of people who eat like we do... You look better feel better.. Higher testosterone levels.. Higher libido.. Higher muscle mass.. I understand not every person will be as strict or as dedicated as you Dox but sugar and processed carbohydrates are the spawn of Satan.. As for calories please fuck off... 😆

I don't feel like I'm being strict now...I'm eating what I want to eat. I pretty much eat once a day - if I feel hungry I'll eat again.

Calories is a bullshit metric.

Calories in, calories out is bullshit.

When I took up golf a couple of years ago I thought that would help me lose weight as I've got a sedentary job, and I sat drinking wine every night,

I went from zero exercise to playing golf 3 or 4 times a week after work (in the summer) carrying a bag of clubs for 4 miles a time, and carried on putting on weight.

Before I started dieting at the beginning of the year, I cut out drinking a bottle of red wine a night, and eating the nibbles I'd have with it. After 30 days I hadn't lost a single pound in weight.

The way to lose weight is eating the right things. The nutrients in meat are highly bioavailable - virtualy all the meat you eat (if you're only eating meat) is used by your body.

Fibre - that's another load of bullshit.
