Trek to Glasgow from Aberdeen

Afternoon all. As I mentioned in my post in the newbie section, not bought myself a Ducati yet... but a Monster 796 is on the cards... Just need to convince the missus that it needs to happen this side of Christmas.

Anyway... interested to hear what you guys in Aberdeen (and further North) do with regards to servicing your bikes? Speaking to the helpful guys down at DG they mentioned that a lot of people ride down and ride back the same/following day. Other options include getting a delivery company but they quote £150 each way.

Riding down sounds like a doable option but want to see what most people do. I'll be looking at getting a new bike so would like to have it serviced by authorised dealer.
 
Used ERS, Ducati Glasgow and local shop - all have strengths and weaknesses. But if heading down South I'd rather spend the money on a night out in Glasgow/Edinburgh than pay a delivery charge.
 
Why not not speak to DG and find out if they use/ have an arrangement with a local garage. I have heard some rumours and not sure if Martin @ DG made any such arrangements. However DG are very good so you wouldn't be waisting your time if you rode there and stopped the night.

What's the cost of a phone call?
 
I've just taken the hit on getting the bike delivered to DC as its still in warranty - not ideal but hey ho. Hopefully at some point we will eventually get an official service centre up here sorted. In the mean time maybe it would be worth trying to co-ordinate transport to get a better price?
