Two piece or not two piece that is the question

I’m currently looking for new set of leathers, as the title says two piece or one piece leathers? After searching high and low I’ve found two one piece suits, a Dainese ducati themed suit for £850 and an Arlen ness black Kangaroo skin for £900.
I’ve been unable to find a shop with both parts of a two piece, was looking for the Wolf kangaroo skin in black. Maybe it just me but the one piece suits seemed to offer better armour around the shoulders and elbows.

I have a few concerns which I would appreciate your opinions on.
Firstly would a one piece suit with the hump on the back look out of place on an S4Rs?
The second concern is practicality or does the extra protection out way this?

personally i think id go for a 2 peice on a monster but for safety i think 1 peice is better, depends on what your used to m8.

Never really found a one peice all that impractical as for looks, I bet I look a right nugget on my Multi with a one piece Ducati Corse Dainese with big hump on it , I feel protected though, in my opinion thats all that matters !

Never had a one piece before but every time I find a two piece design/style I like, then problem of finding a complete set arises.

Obviously the type of riding needs to be taken into account, hope to do a few track days this year and my usual riding is usually out for the day with the odd coffee stop.

I agree with Ian. If you're going two piece though, and plan to do track days, make sure they zip together properly round the sides, not just the back. I got caught out with that last year :(

Just realise the Ducati Corse Dainese one is used in most of the 1098 pics on the ducati site.

Thought this colour scheme would look cool on the S4Rs as apposed to the plain black arlen ness one

I think it would look cool, that suit is really nice, who cares what other people think, if you like it then go for it, thats what I allways do.
If you feel comfortable then you will look comfortable.

Similar, I think mine are 2006 model, either way if you know your size keep an eye on e-bay, I picked these up, never worn for £350, quality is exquisite !

Yeh it's really, really nice! I'd love to have that, but I'd need to spend the same amount again getting the thing tailored to fit my non-European size conforming frame :p

i had a two piece, Fieldsheer, i found it restricted my movement too much round my middle. OK, i was on a ZX7R at the time and i needed to get right out of the seat to make it corner, but i was literally bruising my lower ribs. I switched to one piece and never looked back. i got the Dainese Jack-F which rrp's at £550 and have worn it on the XJR a couple of times, felt silly at first but that need muscling around too.

Thanks for all of your opinions, think I’ll go for the Ducati corse one piece. I’ll just have to stick with Ducati’s until the suit falls apart. :D

Ah this dillema i have faced most recntly - two piece one piece ....

Now i currently have a set of 2 piece well worn spada. cheap and cheerfull do the trick but don't fit as they should.

Now i am long of body short in the leg and stocky typical Italian shape and i alsways thought the buying of two seperates would ultimately give me the best fit as surely you just buy the correct size for your uper and lower (well as near as possible)...

Anyhow ive tried numerous 1 and 2 pieces over the past 2 weeks.

And after trying 3 differnt 2 pieces i have abandoned that idea...

Arlenn Ness, Ixon andAlpineStar 1 piece fit almost perfectly need and inch or so off the cuffs and off the legs. The two piece ones, miles off.

Spidi, nearly but not quite...

Clover too short in the body was cutting me in half if you know what i mean

Dainese - ohh it looked so good i so wanted it to fit but again too short in the front of the body and my manhood wasnt happy..

I was told Dainese make the leathers very aggresive for the position on the bike it spot on but walking round you will have to walk round like a huch back..

So last option....

made to fit,

shortly will be looking for these guys to make me one and the customer service prior to order has been rather good and quoted price very very competitive for a suit made to measure ... really really well priced.

take a look, coose the english option at the top right then
choose collection and it will bring up 1 piece suits (i have gongone for thunder) ther are other options at the top (touring etc) you can then custoomize it colours of panels log name etc it is really good (welll i thought so any way)

as for looks totally up to you subjective at the end of the day, my problem was the fitment..

hope it helps a bit

You could always get the leathers you like and have someone tailor them to fit you properly, but it does add to the cost. I love the Corse leathers, but at 6ft 4" they just don't fit me off the peg. I'm having to get Hideout to work their magic, doing whatever miricales they have to do to make them fit :D

I bought a Scott Leathers one piece off Ebay and they are a perfect fit but needed a bit of damage repairing. They did an excellent job and they are like new now. They do a bespoke made to measure and IMO are superb!
I bought a GTS kevlar jacket and Alpinestars trackpants for those warmer days

That was what i was considering doing but by the time i had bought the ones i wanted and had them adjusted the price was getting more expensive than the made to fit (considerably more infact) so i thought i'd prefer the ones made for me specifically. Only worry is getting my measurements wrongso gonna get a tailor to measure me up properly. :)
