Me that is, did about 150 miles yesterday, all great fun, anyway on the last leg home, probably only 15-20 miles I was baffled as to what one of the buttons on the Multi did, I kept pressing it - nothing.

I had forgotton about it till now and following the thread about MPH / KPH I thought I would also look in the manual.

What a twunt, its the fecking starter button, seriously I was baffled !

Bwahahahaha!

i was riding home the other night and coulnt fathom how to get hi beam, so i just mashed all the buttons till it came on, then i coudnt work out how to dip it, so everytime a car came toward me i swtched the lights off!

You guys should give serious consideration to winter biking, I reckon the cold has killed the grey cells.....:(

PS when you stop remember to put your foot down..;)

Guilty, did it on the 749, stopped at traffic lights and fell off, no attempt whatsoever at putting either foot down, it fell on the right hand side, on me, foot still on the peg - go figure !

Do you think going racing is a good idea in these circumstances?.. Then again you probably won't have a starter button, a sidestand or traffic lights to worry about, but even so.........

We will have to wait and see, lots of lovely gravel though so should be fine !

for gods sake dont mention the time you ran over your own leg :p

Good un.

I once struggled for 20 mins trying to get an exhaust off the 748, only to realise I had taken the wrong spring off

me too

Couple of years ago me and my daughter were on my 851 and went to the biker cafe at sherburn in elmet. It was very very busy. After a cuppa, both got on bike and set off only to fall over at approx 2 miles an hour in front of everyone. scraped fairing and very damaged pride. Several ran over to pick up bike.
It was a full year later before I dared go back, after changing bike to 916.

Oh yes

On my old Yam xs850, started up in front of the girlies outside sainsbury's having a fag. Into 1st, ease out clutch, fall over. Hadn't taken the disc lock off!!
Girlies still thought I was dead cool though....maybe not.

Dun the fall off at low speed twice.
1. Disc lock in the middle of Wigan town centre on a Saturday afternoon on the T8SPS (loud as f**k, bright red bike) everyone watching. God that was embarrassing. :embarassed:

2. Thought I'd go and pick some airline tickets from Mancs airport on the Kat thou', crawling along at less than walking speed looking a parking place. Saw one, turned full lock only for the engine to stall; straight over on its side with my right leg trapped under it so I couldn't get out from under the blo*dy bike! At that precise moment the bloo*y arrival doors opened and out poured all the new arrivals who promptly pis*ed themselves laughing.
Two kindly Yanks strolled over and helped pull the bike off me.

Ains.

Years ago when I had the RGS I would take the front wheel out of the forks and take the loose wheel to get a new tyre fitted. The hardest bit was getting the wheel back in and put the spacer in line whilst holding the wheel and pushing the spindle through which really was a job easiest done with two.
So the first time I need to change the front tyre on the 748 I put it on the paddock stand, remove the fairing and put a trolley jack under the engine to get the front wheel off the ground. Remove all the bolts and calipers pull the spindle out put everything together and get a new tyre fitted. I go back the following day to pick the wheel up and as it's raining I decide to leave the bike under the cover and fit it later. I end up working the rest of the week and it's Saturday morning before I get back to re-fitting the wheel. Cover off, tray off, nuts & screws where I left it with spindle but there is no spacer! It's gone I look everywhere for it and it's vanished. So I phone JHP spares dept and speak to Mark and ask him if I can order a replacement. He said "there is no spacer, according to the microfisch it's just the spindle" So I went downstairs to the bike picked the wheel up and the spindle went straight through with a bit of a struggle and sure enough there was no spacer!
