The GS is all-day comfortable for human-sized men and so NFG for Skitzes or Chizzers. I imagine they'd cope quite well with an R (and lift inserts in their little booties).

Wheeled the 748 out of the shed and gave it a clean. Covered in dust it was. Its still as pretty as ever but 5 years of being moved about on trailers and sat in storage its picked up a few lil scuffs which pisses me right off.
Bought a battery for it a few weeks back so went to fit that , only to find id bought the wrong one! Its for the post 2000 modles aparently but it will fit the 749 which also needs a battery. Anyhu , it fits well enough to fire it up and it started first push of the button and ticked over like a good un. The fast idle switch has never worked on that bike but its never needed it even in real cold weather.
Im still thinking of selling it but there is a couple of things that need sorting.
The rev counter stopped working years ago and i never did get to the bottom of why.
Apparently it could be the gauge or the driver in the ecu? How would one test it?
Also the housing of the gauge cluster broke last ride out with @Laava and ive not looked at what that needs.
Its got a rusty banjo bolt on the rear caliper and the indicators need attention.
Took it for a lil first gear blast down the road to turn it around to put back in the garage.
That reminded me how much i miss riding it but also how sorta how horrible it is on the wrong roads. Its not a race bike but it feels like one, its a bit like riding a plank , very stiff and harsh over bumps but razor sharp and focused on the right tarmac with the right curves. Dont have alot of that around here.
If i did get back into riding it, id be constantly worried about the mag wheels.
Still very undecided what to do but will look at fixing the lil bits and bobs.
Might wheel the track 749 out and fire that up. The sprag on that soinds like its on the way out, shoulda looked into the bits for that when i had the stator rotor off it but i didnt know it was duff. Do i do that before i try to sell it? Might put people off with the clacking noise when the starter doesn't catch but how much will it cost and will i get that money back? Dilemmas...

I know you would hate too but what is the ducati scene down in Ork Land? Would you get more breaking it/them?
Should you try and get them going but need parts, are they exspensive down there? If they are, I wonder if they are cheaper here so some could be sent over?

New parts are expensive, i get em shipped from moto rapido for about half the price as here. 2nd hand im not sure about as ive not really looked. The sprag parts i would buy new. The rev counter on the 748 i need to find out what gives. Might be the ecu... the other bits and bobs are just that and wont cost much.
I dont want to go down the breaking roiute ideally as i dont have the time or storage space and i kinda need a decent chunk of cash in one hit.
Finally fitted my headlamp protector - the lower brackets which were very spindly didn’t fit so I used some Ali spot lamp mounts and modified them to fit. Worked well in the end and only cost £7 for the pair.
The protector is 4mm thick so nice quality - and as it didn’t fit my ‘26 model year as advertised they gave me a full refund

Heading to Germany in a few days basing in Boppard on the Rhine for daily ride outs form there - scorchio over the re at the moment - 28 degrees
