Hi, I was wondering when you begin booking up for the Midgie Masher. Me and the OH are thinking about going along this year. Are there any dates yet?

Cheers

Yep.
Midge Masher is in August...see here...

Booking usually opens at the AGM (but you can book after that in other ways) in February.

Hope to see you there...(at the Masher)...it is a fantastic event and one of the highlights of our year.....

M
its a bloody long way for you but it will be end of august at spitall of glenshee, stop over is required or if you can do 500 miles in one day maybe not...you choose !!!!

Thanks Bruce, yeah we'll probably take a detour through the Lake District and stop over there. I've booked the week off work after the Midgie Masher to see more of the highlands and will ride back the weekend after. I looked up the hotel, are folk booking their rooms now or is it better to wait and do it through DuN?

Great folk, great banter, great roads,...oh and great bikes:cool:

Does anybody ever go on a non ducati? It's just I've a friend In Aberdeen who might like to meet up with me but he rides a jap bike. I can always meet up with him on the Sunday if his bike would nae be welcome.

Planning started immediately after the 2011 event! :)

Dates are confirmed as Robbie's post above.

Venue, details of what is on offer such as eating arrangements, costs etc are still being finalised but all that will be announced in usual tradition at the SDC AGM next month.
Those present hear first what is on offer and bookings are taken at the end of the AGM.
There will be an announcement after the AGM on here (in the SDC section)) and bookings will then be taken from anyone who was unable to attend the AGM that day/weekend.

Should point out that this is a SDC event and is open to all SDC members.

There are a few brave souls that attend the Masher on Non-Ducati and abuse handed out depends how far removed from a Ducati is their steed!

who cares what he's on, well i don't

come over and have a good weekend :)

OK folks just to clarify about the SDC Midgie Masher 2012:-

1- the only thing that is confirmed is the date (Fri 24th/Sat 25th/Sun 26th August 2012)

2- Venue (somewhere in Scotland), activities, routes, hotel, pricing, details etc are all still being organised/finalised and are a work in progress so currently just speculation until we confirm FOR SURE....

3- Confirmation of details will be given at the AGM in February and then immediately announced to all those unable to attend the AGM via a thread on DuN or by email from us.

Please feel free to book time off work if need be and make any other plans necessary, but please do not make any accommodation arrangements (ie with the hotel already mentioned) as the event is an all in one package and organised through the club.

4- All attendees must be SDC members, but attendance on a Ducati is only a suggestion. Arrive on any other machinery at your own risk;)

you know who you are....
attendees should also check the following before they book...

what is my tank range? you dont want to run out of petrol after 200 mile run only 10 (5/10/15????)miles from the hotel and require a pickup

how good are my distance judgement skills? can I accurately judge 5/10/15 miles when someone runs out of petrol and requires pickup.

does my fairing rub against the oil cooler and might create a hole?

does my gear look so bad everyone else chooses another route and you end up on a run on your own with one mate who only sticks with you coz he feels sorry for you....until you come across another group where someone has a holed oil cooler and then another group who cant read a map and then those that run out of petrol.......

would you be better on a bike this year? out on the bike might be better than sitting down to enjoy your first pint of the day having picked up a bike with a holed oil cooler only to take one sip and get the call to go rescue some numpty who has run out of petrol 5 miles (yeah right....10/15 more like) from the hotel...

:whistle::whistle::whistle:

If you want to split the ride I can find accommodation here with me and you could ride up with us - usually 4/5 from here. We do all the fun bits :)

It took 16 posts! Which is 15 more than I thought it would! :finger:

Leave request for Friday & Saturday in with my managers PA now. Won't know for a few days if they'll be granted....

My holiday request has been accepted at work, lets hope for better riding weather down here in the South lands of the British isles.........see ya at the masher :)

Chizboy,
You are just avoiding me cos you have owed me a pint for close to two years!!!!

Your quite correct. Actually missing a lot this year due to work, European & now this year Olympic commitments. :(
Off shore for the AGM, :( Missing a good  & craic there. Then missing the SDC trackdays, :mad:Will make the DG trackdays hopefully. :)
Then I can make the Highland Fling , but may be in Englandshire then with a pre-Olympic Hockey tourni.:(. Great for the Olympics, but crap for my biking.
Then offshore for the masher. Damn & blast.
