Al's Kitchen - Curry Recipies

Tried a new curry option from Tesco today and it was better than expected 👀 and not too much faffing 🤔

Supermarket spices have come on a lot in recent years. They used to come out of the jar stale and tasteless but they're a lot better now. And there's more range. I still struggle to find curry leaves, lemongrass or cardamom in Tesco etc that actually taste of anything. I use Grape Tree quite a lot for spices now. Seem to be fresher and ounce for ounce they're cheaper than the supermarkets.

I'm not well up on Indian curries. I tend to go more in a Thai direction. Do like a chicken dahl though. A doddle to make and ideal for my work food flask.

Ready ground spices lose a lot of there flavour soon as they are opened. The little supermarket jars are also expensive
I buy whole spices and use a coffee grinder bought from Lidl.
Its the only advantage of living near to Asian populations the availability of spices

Wilton Wholefoods are ok for online spices as they sell smaller bags or you can buy large jars

Great selection to & they have nice nut mixes !!
