one of the comments, now we know why it's so dangerous.
" As someone who has gone to and followed the TT since the early 70s I would like to offer an observation. This TT is the worst ever for cancelled classes, races and laps. It should be
obvious to all that because of Global climate changes, and the organisers trying to sanitise the safety of the riders, (which is a good thing), but
doesn't work with these climate changes, the traditional slot of May/June is no longer working, costing competitors and fans alike, a small fortune for little result.
I believe it is time for the TT organisers and the Manx government to get together and move the TT dates to later in the year. Last year we had good weather a couple of weeks later and
this year we are promised because of el nino, , weeks of warmth and dry weather.I wish the organisers well in their future endeavours, but as far as I'm concerned, my days of visiting in the May/June slot are over.
Now then as to the sidecar accidents, the competitor's were issued with 27mm throttle restrictor plats to slow the outfits, and as these crashes, (Maria's excepted as they hit a hare) along with the the crash last year too when the outfit and this time the Crowe outfit, took off like a plane, without pre-empting the inquiry, it seems as if (IMHO) that the shape of the outfits, (the speeds having been restricted this year, along with the enclosed underside, turn the outfits into a WING and if they get wind underneath for whatever reason, they take off briefly like a plane."
