I agree, It's a preposterous idea to fit a motorcycle with a rear end on the front as well as the back. You won't know whether you coming or going.

Suspension update
I am 12st so not a big lad
I have been playing around with suspension since I got the bike, trying to get a balance between pootling around and not pootling around
Rear shock is “bottoming out” even with max preload (at max preload is wasn’t nice, rear skipping around, it’s just too hard for general riding)
A bump taken at 40-50 is ok, at 70 it unsettles the bike, and often unseats me, at license loosing speeds it wouldn’t be nice at all
Going to be replacing the shock with a Nitron

I agree. A professional suspension set-up as about the most cost-effective modification you can buy. Few riders will be able to optimise suspension settings on their own. I've tried numerous times and got it close but it took a pro to nail it. I'm going to get my 1260 done. Mine's an S with Ohlins so it's pretty good but I know it's not perfectly dialled for me and where and how I ride. I could fiddle by myself but I'll never know if I've got it really spot-on so for what it costs I'll get a pro to do it.
Saying that, the base model Sachs suspension is pretty crap. Upgrading would be well worth it. I went K-Tech up front and Ohlins rear on my SF. I went through a pro suspension shop who was an agent for both and he did the lot from fitting to set-up. Costs a few bob but the advantage was he was able to specify the exact spring weights for me and assembled the units in-house with the correct shimming etc.

Whilst I was playing I found that reducing preload made the ride less harsh, but didn’t make much difference to being ejected from seat at motorway speeds, I placed cable ties front and rear, too see what range of movement I was getting
After a fairly gentle ride, The front had plenty remaining, the rear none, so after several more test rides and adjustments, I reached max preload on shock, not nice to ride and still bottoming out, as there’s no compression damping on the shock, i have reached the conclusion that the shock is just not fit for purpose
My best guess is that Ducati knew this and that’s why it has a 20mm thick rubber “grommet” to prevent hard metal to metal contact

I rode an XDiavel with Ohlins rear shock a few weeks ago, completely different experience, at no point did I feel that bike was unstable or overly harsh, and the owner is 2 stone heavier than me
I 100% agree that a suspension specialist would be able to set the bike up to level which I can not, problem is (imho) the lack of any compression damping adjustment is preventing the spring from being able to respond to undulations in an adequate manner

If the bike's a keeper and you plan to put some miles on it, it's well worth binning the budget suspenders and getting a proper pro-fitted up-grade. It'll cost, but be worth it.
