Not sure whether this should go in the workshop section or not. Stuck it here so it gets seen. @The GOAT feel free to move it if appropriate.

Had trouble sourcing a set of tyres for my Diavel. Ducati Sunderland wanted silly money and couldn't be pinned down on a booking a time, when they answered the phone.
Local indie workshops said they couldn't get hold of the tyres for weeks / said Rosso Corsa 3s were no longer available / wanted £60 a wheel to fit them / didn't really want to do them at all or just simply wouldn't answer the phone.

Went to National Bike Tyres this morning in Newton Aycliffe. One-man band run by Matt. Totally sound bloke, only supplies and fits bike tyres. Rang him Friday, he said he could get my tyres pretty much by the next day and yes I can have the 3s if I want them, no problem. Rode in this morning at 8 am. Tyres were waiting for me and I was on my way again at 9:00 ride in/ride out at £114 cheaper than the Ducati dealer quoted. He even checked my brake pad wear while the wheels were off.

Forty minute ride for me from Consett but well worth it for swift and professional service, zero hassle and a very good price. Can't see why I'd need to go anywhere else for tyres now. Recommended. Five stars from me.

Yeah, that almost put me off at first. Thought is might be some Kwik-Fit type franchise. But it's not. It's genuine. Just Matt on his own in one purpose kitted-out workshop dedicated purely to fitting bike tyres.
I am surprised there aren't more businesses like his though. Main dealers and indie general repair/servicing workshops don't seem to want to bother with tyres. I don't know why as it's a ready market with most performance bikes needing a new set of boots every three to four thousand miles at best. Tyres clearly are available pretty much overnight despite what dealers claim.
He charged me £50 for fitting both tyres on the bike and he was done inside the hour. So I guess he's charging £50/60 hr workshop labour, which is pretty reasonable these days, plus I would imagine some mark-up on the tyres themselves, and he's busy all day. It's a good business.

Plus, when I told him that dealers had said the Rosso Corsa IIIs are no longer available and I had to have IVs he gave a wry smile. So what's the difference between the III's and the IV's, I asked. Price, he said. Honest bloke.
 
My go to tyre guy hung up his tyre levers a few years ago and the people that took over were more interested in his taxi contract than bike tyres initially. I found a guy who set up a workshop at home as all his mates wanted tyres so he does tyres and mechanical repairs on his spare time (he works offshore so has some 😁) decent prices and no corporate bullshit 👍
