Climate Change (Global Warming) 🥶🌍🌞

Yeah 1910 house was all lime mortar and semi-fancy brickwork - flemish 🤔 I was concerned about heating it after the 1970s house (it was a good bit bigger) but wasn't an issue at all. Both in Norfolk so same climate to deal with
Warmest and healthiest feeling house I ever lived in was my little late 18th century cottage in Dorset. Walls built from 2'6" thick chalk cob and roof thatched. Massive inglenook fireplace with old-school log burner that kept burning for days (longest I kept it going non-stop was six weeks). Single glazed windows, an old oak front door and no central heating. Only the log burner and no supplementary electric heating ever needed in any other room.

In the winter of 2010 which was exceptionally cold, six inches of snow stayed on my roof for weeks while on other, newer houses nearby it melted after a few days from internal heat loss. I was never cold. In summer it felt lovely and cool indoors and always smelled clean and fresh. I'd build myself one like that now if I was allowed to but nowadays the construction and insulation would be condemned as inadequate. But it wasn't. They weren't daft in those days and we don't need to be continually reinventing the wheel.

And we wonder why politicians suddenly become millionaires 🤔

Just checked where the new June record weather station is located and it is Alverstoke Green housing estate, Gosport.

The 1976 record weather station was in parkland.

This is what Google says about the temperature differences in different areas - so the 1976 temp could have been easily over 40 degrees in comparison 👀

On hot summer days, built-up urban areas are typically 4°C to 10°C hotter than the surrounding countryside, with extreme satellite-measured surface temperature differences sometimes exceeding 15°C. This phenomenon is known as the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect

I was at primary school in 1976 and in an attempt to teach us about the weather we were encouraged to take temperature readings at home during the heat wave and write them up on a board in the classroom. I recorded 40 degrees in our garden. And that was in the countryside under the shade of a cherry tree. In a concrete and tarmac city street it would have been hotter than that.

The school never closed and we were allowed outside to play in the sun. No one died. We just took water pistols to school and drenched each other. When we got sunburned we were rubbed with lanolin and told tht would teach us to wear our sun hats. I had a groovy camo hat something like this:

Record-breaking temperatures: France hit 44.3°C in Pissos, the highest temperature since records began, as a heat dome grips western Europe.

Tragic child deaths: Three children have died in hot cars this week, including siblings in Carpentras and a boy in Saint-Gratien, prompting police investigations.

Tourist fatality: A British woman died of a suspected heart attack at a campsite in western France during the extreme heat.

Twatty Vine; “the Met Office has provided a prediction of 2056…”

The fucktards can’t get the weather right tomorrow in more than 50% of cases; they’ve been lying for decades about temperatures from testing stations that don’t exist…but wank stains are quoting their predictions for 30 years hence FFS

Im often on the way to work and listening to the headlines and the weather forecast at 6:30.. expect a dry clear day with sunny spells ... its actually fucking raining and I have the windscreen wipers on ... they don't even have the intelligence to change the forecast based on what is actually happening outside the met eireann offices in Dublin where im based, they can't even de bothered to look out of the glass pyramid they are based in to see they have got it wrong.. this fundamentally tells you they aren't remotely to be trusted with the most basic of forecast or reporting 😡

Same here - the number of times I’ve not gone for a ride because rain was forecast…but never happens, or been out because it said it would be dry, and 15 minutes in it’s pissing down.
