"We had a heat pump installed by Octopus last year at a cost of £11,500.
Our experience with the heat pump has been a disaster, primarily as it only heats the home to a maximum of 18 degrees. Some rooms struggle to go above 12 degrees.

Since Wednesday we've had fire engines tearing over the moors every day. On eclipse night I happened to drive over to Stanhope and every inch of the roadside for mile after mile was lined with parked cars and people camped out on chairs, with beers, picnics and camera gear. Normally these roads are deserted and "wild" fires unknown. The next day and ever since the fire engines haven't stopped. Go figure. Some cnut no doubt thought it a cool idea to have a BBQ while they watched the celestial non-event. But hey, that's global warming for you.
