I took my Golf to the dealership for servicing back in the 80s and there was another one there - 16v Gti - they hadn't been out long. This other one must've had 150 ladybirds of different sizes stuck to the dashboard. The service manager said it belonged to a Japanese guy. WTF was he thinking?

Funny you say that, mine did get stolen - was involved in a police chase and dumped in Liverpool. Had £1500 of damage - a couple of weeks after getting it fixed I wrote it off on the M6.

Then about a year later I got a phone call from someone interested in buying it from someone in Scotland - I asked him what it was like; "nice condition, 15000 miles, red..." I told him it had 30000 miles on when I wrote it off, and it was silver.
