Scientists in Japan have created a special medicine that may let adults grow brand new teeth. The drug works by blocking a protein that normally stops extra teeth from forming after our adult set appears.
Researchers discovered that humans keep the ability for a third set of teeth hidden in the jaw, and this treatment aims to wake that process up. Animal tests already showed new teeth growing safely in mice and other creatures. The medicine has now moved into human studies starting with healthy adults who are missing at least one back tooth.
Early testing focused only on safety and the first group finished without major problems. Next steps will look at people born without several teeth and later at wider groups who lose teeth from injury or decay. If later stages succeed the treatment could become available around the year 2030.
Growing real living teeth would change smiles and confidence for millions. The work continues carefully through more careful testing so that safety stays the top priority while the dream of natural tooth repair moves closer to everyday life.

Wouldn't help me. My teeth are great, It's the gums and the bone beneath them that need to regrow.
