I think the 998 FE that came with single seat didn't have white number boards so that is an addition.

Ohlins forks would also be correct.

The fairing stickers have the 998s and Testastretta wrong way round too.

Bitsa 😁

Naah, it's from Wales. No telling what some Welshman has done to it and it's rear facing exhausts, let alone what would fly out of the exhausts once you start it up 🤮

What is so desirable about the 99X's? Aside from aesthetics. The regularly scheduled belt service, how often and costly? Are they the last of the legacy/non-electronic types? Anything else worth mentioning? Remember, still a Ducatidiot here.

996, 998 or 999?

I think you mean 916, 996 & 998, they are the Tamburini design and popular for their aesthetics (and Foggy legacy amongst other things), belts are recommended every 2 years but most go for longer without issue. Easy job to do yourself or a few hundred quid to a mechanic. Then there's the valve clearance checks recommended every 6,000 miles which are more of a ball-ache but easy to do yourself if you are confident with feeler gauges and fiddly spaces (the 998's are easier as it's more of a 'rocker' cover removal and more space.

Collectors want early ones with Cagiva graphics or 'SPS' & 'R' models so prices are all a bit silly. 748 is the same shape and a little cheaper.

They are visual bike porn and were the bikes our racing heroes rode.

It also is the typical rose tinted glasses though. Some forget the first time they owned/rode one and noticed they were cramped, electrics were made of cheese and many were put together on a friday afternoon. in quite a few cases they were horrible bikes to ride.

BUT, in humanities rose tinted ways when looking back at the days of old, we will convince ourselves that kids were never dissrespectful, politicians never fillandered and everything was better when we were kids.

In that vein, 749, 999 were arguably beterrer all round except for looking somewhat less attractive. 1098 / 1198 went back to looking like a 916 but with more lunacy incorporated 😁 , these are considered the 'last' pure Ducati's - whatever that may mean to you.

Whatever you like, buy that and who cares what anyone else thinks (y) Noobie once bought a Fugly FFS :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The 2nd part of that sentence is a bit of an understatement. Akin to saying that Susan Boyle is a betterer all round singer than Leona Lewis except for looking somewhat less attractive.

Now you can argue the 1st point, but in the munter 👺 stakes, there's no debate to be had. 🤷‍♂️
