Electric Vehicle Stuff

A Mercedes EV caught fire in an underground car park beneath a block of flats in South Korea last month.

23 people injured, 140 cars destroyed, the car park plastered with extremely toxic chemicals and a large number of residents forced into temporary accommodation as their homes are currently inhabitable.

The EV in question was not being charged at the time and had been parked for 2 days.

Won't be long before a block of flats goes up and there will be multiple fatalities, but our media is not interested for some strange reason.......

South Korea has banned all EV's from multi-story car parks.

Ford will now allocate only 30% of its budget to future EV investments.

MG says the first cars with solid state batteries will arrive as early as next year

Hmm, not quite electric utopia yet 🤔

What’s more, many researchers have found that the biggest roadblock is the potential longevity of these new packs. To get very technical, lots of rapid charging can lead to a build-up of dendrites on the lithium electrode.

Like plaque on teeth, this build-up can eventually cause the system to short-circuit and eventually kill the battery.

To make matters worse, there is limited understanding of how to recycle SSBs, meaning a lot of research and funding has to be poured into this area if we want to avoid a pile-up of dead batteries in five to ten years.

EU slammed over 'absurd' 2035 petrol car ban plans as Italy warns of 'collapse'

The EU is set to ban the sale of combustion models in just over 10 years but the government led by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is against the measure.

Rome could put pressure on European leaders to reconsider the move, set to heavily impact petrol and diesel owners.

Italy's energy minister, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, questioned the policy at the Ambrosetti Forum in Cernobbio, near Lake Como.

Charging Electric Cars Are Wasting More Power Than You Think

The worst offender?

The Mini Cooper SE, which wasted a shocking 30.1% of its charge. The Volvo XC40 wasn’t far behind, losing about 20% during charging. Other notable energy guzzlers include the Dacia Spring, Mustang Mach-E, Nissan Leaf, MG 4, and Xpeng G9.
