Started my 1299s 2017 and errors SCU,DES and internal sensor came on. did 2 miles and they stayed on. 2 hours later they went off and the bike started ok. the bike has a full race system fitted so it gets hotter than a standard 1299s. has anyone had this issue and should i replace the sensor.

Over the years my 2015 1299s would throw up a random code or a des on the dash they all happen on a lazy start for me and always disappeared. The only fault that I had to fix was the quick shifter which was bloody dangerous when it failed .

i will check the battery first. i have a ducati charger. point 2 can be eliminated cos the bike was cold but the sensor could be damaged with the extra heat. sorry missed your question at the end, MIL never came on and the suspension seamed as normal.

The first beneficial move from Ducati was on the 1199 Panigale with mechanical decompression in the engines to aid cranking which the 1299 will have also - but they still use the same low quality cables and even smaller batteries. Starting isn't generally such an issue with the Panigales.

Some of the newer bikes (like monsters etc) are even worse - skinny low grade cables and terminals, no decompression system and even smaller batteries than the older bikes.

My biggest sellers out of 45 kits I do are the 749/999's and the 848/1098/1198 bikes and the 2010 onwards Muliti's including the 3rd Gen DVT's are also a massive seller.

I sell 70 to 80 kits a month on average all over the world 🌍

TBH i never read up on this issue with the more modern ducati,s. i just presumed that lessons had been learnt and they had sorted out the starting problems of the past. my 2011 multistrada started first time, every time . i have your leads fitted on my 1098s. hopefully my issue was just the battery needing a little charge or needing replaced. thanks.

I find my 1299 is just a heavy started but always starts but it does need a full battery my older 998 and 999 definitely needed the upgraded leads so far I haven't bothered in the 1299👍
