She better not bump her head..
I`ve spent about £15k on vet bills and medication over the last 18 months or so. You may remember one of my cats suffered an horrendous foot injury and one of the dogs has Cushings Disease which will sadly result in us having to put her to sleep I imagine later this year, a good 2 or 3 years earlier than would otherwise have been the case.Vet prescription fees to be capped at £21, watchdog says Vet prescription fees to be capped at £21, watchdog says
Bet they end up creating an OfPet or something similar and introduce a price ‘cap’ that’s bound to be more than we pay now.
Problem as I see it is insurance, whenever I’ve taken a sick pet to the vets the first thing they ask is ‘are you insured’
If you say yes they then say ‘oh good, I need a new car, we’ll do lots of unnecessary expensive stuff’.

Despite the costs I still think over the years it has been cheaper not to insure them. The cat is 16 and the dog 11 so 27 years of fees saved and all the policies I`ve looked at lately seem to have so many clauses and stipulations that any cover given is very limited.
What really pisses me off though is VAT on vet fees, HMRC has benefitted to the tune of a few grand on the back of my pets suffering.
Funnily enough I did think about saying the dogs were work dogs, they have between them caught several rabbits, squirrels and one deer . I bring them to work occasionally and they seem to be keeping the rabbits, squirrels and deer at bay in the same way that I`ve never been bitten by a vampire after I`ve eaten garlic.Could you run the pets through your business to reclaim the VAT? Pest control and security?
How is your cat doing, does she use all four paws again?
This morning we sadly had to take Lola, AKA Mrs Lollipops, our Hungarian Pulli Cross to be put to sleep. She was just 11 but 2 years ago was diagnosed with Cushings Disease, a chronic condition that can be managed but it`s basically a managed decline that eventually results in them having to be put down when their bodies let them down. Today for the first time ever she showed no interest in food or walkies, both signs the vet had told us to look out for when the time was right.
Lola was a fabulous dog, we had initially had her as a foster dog to help out a local lady who rescues dogs from Eastern Europe. She had been let down by a potential new owner here so we said we`d have her temporarily but within a week we realised we would keep her. I could write an essay about how wonderful she was and all the funny things she did but I guess as is always the case it`s personal to the family, instead below are a few pictures showing her mastery of tree stump climbing, kayaking, hiding in blankets and looking after ducklings.
