Pet's Corner

Just had a shower when i heard a strange noise downstairs. Puff had come in and was trying to reach some carrots on the kitchen work top. I pushed her back to the utility room but she seems in no rush to go back outside.

Well get one then. One that doesn’t like water and work out how to bathe the daft bugger. Then tell me how you did it.

Please.

We shampoo our dog outside Al, holding her by the collar, and on a hard-standing. I get a bucket full of clean lukewarm water and (using a plastic jug) pour a few pints over her, squeeze shampoo onto her, then pour the rest of the clean water over her.

She doesn't like baths, but enjoys being towelled down afterwards- a bit like me really.

Our lab isn’t fond of a wash but loves a swim.
We wash him outdoors in summer as Ron describes. Have also found a dog wash locally that has warm water and shampoo and you can secure him during the process. It’s handy as it’s near a lake he likes to swim in so he gets to have fun and come home clean.

In winter he gets treated to an indoor wash in the bath. As much to keep me warm as him. We make it more interesting for him by smearing some peanut butter on the tiles for a treat and to keep him distracted. Hahaha reading this back I sound mental!

Have you ever been arrested?

My dog hates being wet but loves being towelled dry.

Don’t know why I didn’t think to try distracting him with food. 👍

He seems to have a real fear of water. Won’t walk through a puddle or along the prom when the tide is in.

Surprising how hard it is to keep hold of him when he really wants to get away.
