Mad March Mini Mega Meet Ride In starts

I thought I'd start the planning for MMMMM. As you know we are due to meet between 12 and 1 at Hartside but with people coming from all over the region it might be good for a few groups to ride in together.

So far there's about 14 of us, if you are intending coming along, please add your name to the calendar event.

I'd thought about riding down to Devils or Kendal (Costa is warmer than sitting on the wall :D ) and coming back up A6 and then up to Hartside so anyone from Lancs could meet us in Kendal??

David, can you confirm where Scottish Ducati are starting and planned times please??, same goes for you Pete (Yorks) and Scotty (Tyneside). if anyone else is coming please use this thread for discussion on meeting places/times etc, try and keep it on topic please folks :D

i was gona surgest bowburn services on A1 but i guess pete (yorks) will have that route in covered, i guess id be better vearing north hummm otterburn anyone ? il rece a route in at some point (got my eye on the B6320 to A686 )
 
I would be coming up from Settle. Probably via Hawes. Maybe even via Skipton if anyones coming from that way?

The Scottish raiding party might be heading back that way Scotty, ain't got me atlas here to see which one B6320 is?? Bellingham to Acomb rings a bell, its a good un if it is eh Martin :D

Ooh, thats quite a good run back, North East crew can turn at Keilder, Scots continue on and north west could go to Newcastleton then south. Lots of options depending upon the weather.
 
think ive been a bit overambitious, r kid sister Bday bash is on the Saterday night in Aberdeen so not so sure il make it at all now :(

David Burnie is arranging this, its probably about 2 - 3 hours down depending upon the route and stops. Takes me about 1.45 in the van from Glasgow on Mway but I'm sure you'll find a more pleasant way down :) From J40 M6 to Hartside cafe is about 15 - 20 minutes.

Yup, it'll be between 4 and 5 hours i'd think maybe longer :( early start needed but you'd have company if you can make it to Davie's place early Sunday morning, be a nice run out of Aberdeen at that time, no cars, empty roads mmmm
 
OK will give it some thought and get back to you all, when we have had time to discuss. We could come over via Skipton and pick people up, then Kirkby Lonsdale, or West Yorks guys could cruise up to Harrogate or poss Boroughbridge (A1) for faster access, then up through Richmond way, Barnard Castle etc. Three hours is good for us too. Comments from Yorkies please, what do you fancy doing?

I'll bring the hordes of west cumbrians ducati riders with me to Hartside !
So according to the members map that'll be just me then!
Am I alright to bring a non believer (Jap bike riding friend) or will he ruin the Vee twin symphony !
Oh he might not turn up if its raining !

its an exclusive club, West Cumbrian Ducati Owners :) 1 member :D Actually there's Triumph Daytona 600 rider I meet at Devils a lot who was interested in getting a 749, he'd done 15,000 miles on his 600 in a year riding throughout winter and wanted to know how a Duc would cope :D he lived on the West coast, Whitehaven/Maryport I think.

No problem on non Duc's we can convert him :D

Martin, where are you coming in from? My initial thought is to go up the Eastern route, i.e. A1 (ish) then Thirsk, Leyburn, Richmond, Barnard Castle, Alston to Hartside, then back via Penrith, Shap, Kirky Lonsdale, Settle etc. That makes an anti clockwise route obviously. It will depend on how many are coming from where - if there is a majority from West Yorkshire (ish) like Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Halifax etc then we could do the same thing but clockwise, as you say meeting at Hawes, Skipton etc.

I tend to like doing loop rides, rather than out and backs, you get more for your money I reckon!
 
I am near Burnley. I could either meet up at Leyburn or Barnard Castle/ Middleton in Teesdale and run up that way with you?
 
Yes Martin, that could be good. Depending on how many takers from my area I could persuade them (him, her?) to pop over to Skipton, Settle etc and then we'll have more of a run together. Let's see who else chips in, then do a majority call.
 
Meet at Devils Bridge

Looks like I'll be off on the 19th.
What time do you want to meet in Kendal and where?
Denise and I can then head up to DB first to pick anyone up from there then meet in Kendal for the mass ride up...
I'll put the word out on the DOC list, so that should be me and Denise then... :rolleyes:

We will leave Harrogate at 0900, there should be about four of us, we will be at Skipton for 0930, and pick people up on the exit from the roundabout (A65 North) heading for Kendal. In Kendal we will snick through town and head up Shap. We will pick people up just outside town, in the big layby on the left, just as the road opens out (the one where the bizzies park up, near the rugby club), probably here at 1020. That should give us plenty of time to get to Hartside for noon.

The first group of us will need fuel at Penrith, so we may as well go to there for the first stop. Collect Gizmo at this point? Then head on out toward Hartside.

Does that sound feasible/sensible? If everybody can say yes or no, on here, then we will have a good idea who to look for, numbers etc.
 
Maybe a bit early Pete, it takes me 45 minutes from Kendal to Hartside, Linzi does Penrith/Kendal in the car everyday and that's about 30 minutes. How about we meet at 10.20 at a cafe (Costa??) then its warm for whoever gets there first, it'll not be much fun stood outside waiting :(, Ian can maybe sort that out and give directions through town to the cafe, set off before 11, grab a few photo's on Shap and Hartside if its reasonable and we'll be there for 12. If i take photos at Shap those needing fuel can head to Penrith, I'll catch you up then go onto Hartside and take more there. would that work for everyone??
 
I can do the pick up at Devil's and ride in to Costa, its a bit of a biatch to explain at the moment as the traffic flow changes almost daily at the moment while they implement pedestrianasation !
 
Yes, I was being a bit generous with the times, but you lot might ride like a bunch of tarts......! I can do the whole lot in under two hours...... can't do smilies but all said tongue in cheek!

Coffee sounds great, and yes a lead in would be good.

So, what time at Devils then Ian? Meet far end of the car park, away from the temptation of the pies?

10ish at Devils, straight through to Kendal, chill out with nice Coffee there far from the madding biking crowd and @@@@e coffee !

We can eat at Hartside.
 
0900 here from Harrogate, Skipton 0930, then meet you 1000 at the Bridge, wizz off for coffee, then up to Hartside for food.

Right Yorkies, that's the deal, see you somewhere on the day. Let's do it.

Is Ray going to make it do you reckon? Just read the other thread.
