Latest update folks:
What was supposed to be a 'temporary' chopped 70mm 1098R Termi system ended up fitting so well and looking so 'right' on the 748 silhouette that I didn't bother fitting the super-rare 60mm 998RS system I had procured, instead I swapped it with a chap who was re-building a BSB 998 (he has another few Ducati race bikes as well) for these babies he had "just lying" around!
Allegedly from Vermuelen's MotoGP bike circa 2005ish, absolutely over the top for road use but hey!
Hung in, but going to swap to widetrack Corse yokes:
Even got Magnesium top caps!
Std 996 radiator was always going to be marginal with the 1198. I've got a double row Corse rad but didn't want to butcher it in order to fit a fan but managed to find this NOS JHP item with fan facility at reasonable cost:
Some NCR rearset loveliness, mmmmmmmmmm!!
T' other side:
That's the bling progress so far, on other fronts: currently fighting a losing battle trying to sort out some sort of airbox set-up using a 998RS box but not getting anywhere (2/10 - must try harder!). Had to get some 'wedges' machined up (courtesy of one of my former RAF colleagues!) to get some clearance for the throttle-bodies at the forward face of the box - nicely made:
And fitted:
Electrics are virtually complete, including conversion for 916 wiring to 1198 coil-sticks - many thanks to Guru Derek who got an exasperated phone call last Saturday after my brain's logic-circuits failed completely during the re-wire!!
Other niff-naff and trivia parts are been completed as I go along but until I get to grips with my airbox woes and fabricate an injector rail as well there will be no 'Broom-broom' noises emanating from my garage for a wee while!!
That's all for now folks....................... Chris
