Old Bike

Happy new bike Scott - it's lovely:cool: can't wait to see it running

...he won't have a clue, he's used to just turning the key and pushing the button. It may have a starter motor fitted but I can't wait to see him tickling his carbs..... ! ;) :p

Glad to see you finally found one Scott, you were talking about this when I was mulling over the SC earlier this year.
Bring it along to next years Ayr classic show and sit it next to Nigels:D
Perhaps one day in a couple of years I'll manage to get one too,I'll be sure to consult the resident bevell experts when I do.

Junked the starter motor on my Darmah after the sprag bearing was
smashed twice when the engine kicked back due to the timing wandering
(supposedly because Ducati failed to mention to Bosch that the pickups
would be sat in hot engine oil and were only 2 inches from the front
cylinder downpipe ) The first time it did it I didn't have a clue and
ran the bike for a week until I could have a proper look at it ,
Totally wrecked the engine as bits of broken bearing went round the
engine <img src="images/smilies/frown.gif" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" border="0"> <br>
The second time (After the rebuild) I knew better so didn't run it and
decided to remove the starter and replace the clutch side cover with a
900SS one then just kick the bike over .<br>

Thanks Dave - it's taken a while!

It's a looong way off running, and the list of bits only gets longer.

Congratulations Scott, but remember the golden rule. ALWAYS use monograde oil, non of your modern rubbish.
good luck.

Hiya Jim!

All sorted on the oil front

Just need new fuel taps and a battery and we'll see if the old bugger will start!

....wonder if I'll get a thanks or just a scarcy comment..... ;)

Well, hooked up a battery, fresh fuel, plugs, fuel lines and cleaned out the carb bowls.

IT'S ALIVE!

Nope!

Now the oil is out, the petrol is drained, calipers off and more bits and pieces are off to be polished.

Bodywork off next for the painter soon.

Thank heavens for that!!

I wasn't worried.....honest.;) :)

Really pleased for you.

Onwards and upwards. Welcome to the world of the Bevel anoraks:lol2:

That's a bevellishly nice looking Darmah you've got there !. Looking forward to hearing it roaring through its new pipes.
