I've never owned any but might take a punt.
My very old 5 Series BMW estate that my mum bought me second-hand about 10 years ago after selling my dads PB's when he died and then I gave the car to my son who got it up to about 180k finally died this year and we got like 300 squid for it. I made my son put that money in PB's as I thought quite fitting!

It died at 180k...just run in!
I had a new 525 in '89 - swapped it in '96 with 275k miles. Apart from a new engine at 60k, it still had same clutch, exhaust etc. Just changed brakes and tyres and services regularly. I used to see it knocking about for a few years after.
