Project Superspurt

Eddie,(ERS) makes his own braided hoses, in different colours too,he will be at the bike show if you want to speak to him about it. Kawasaki Dumfermline do them as well.

Thanks Guys,

I think that the 'Spanish Wizard's' option sounds the best and easiest for me get to, although if the up-north guy is lots cheaper, it might be worth my while having a wee jaunt north?!. :D:D:D

Will look Eddie (ERS) up at the show and get a rough price. I intend going on Sunday with a friend, maybe see some of you there. I will be looking around with my GUZZI shopping list in hand too!:lol2:

I hope you were careful not to loose the wee o-rings? (circled below) They are easily overlooked.

now you mention it there was a 10 minute cursing and swearing session which involved me scanning the garage floor with my cheek resting on concrete muttering "f*ck i need to get my eyes tested"

:D

oil cooler bracket Stewart:mad:

Colin,

I managed to break mine end of last year,..I was - should I say pi##d off at myself - so much that I threw 5/6 spanners right out my garage into the road - my neighbours must have thought I was mental.:mad:

Anyway cost me £217 to get it replaced by DG.

Lesson learned M8

It certainly has been facinating to follow your escapades on here.

I am off on leave now and will be getting stuck in to 'Project Guzzi' but I wont even attempt to follow your act/ article.

Cannot wait to see the finished bike Colin. :)

it started but I've a major oil leak between barrel and casings, needs cylinder stripped down.
Gutted

Colin, that looks like oil running down the barrel from the cylinder head in your photo. (fins look damp)
I have had similar before where I was convinced it was the base gasket but the oil was weeping from the head and pooling around the base.
You did splashout on new o-rings didn't you?
Have you torqued it down correctly? Might be worth checking that again before you strip down.

I had assumed it's the cylinder base that's leaking and that Colin might have forgotten the O-ring, but on looking at that picture again there seems to be a fair bit of oil on the fins.

its deffo just coming from the bottom, that amount of oil spewed out in abot 8/10 secs,I heard it gurgling, that pic is after some was mopped up.
I did put new o rings in at the top of barrell but reused the steel one at the bottom plus there is an o ring right where the oil is gushing from...fingers crossed(in a weird way) I've disturbed/lost it whilst assembling the head.

no oil on the fins

got all sundries off, trying to humour a 4year old at the same time:comp2:...no easy

Right enough, from that angle I can see the fins are dry.
If you remove the carbs and exhaust then take out the front engine bolt the engine can be pivoted on the rear bolt far enough to get the head off, but once you have removed battery air box, etc you'd be as well just lift the frame from the engine/swinging arm. Good luck with it.

Your getting some serious help there Colin.
:flash::flash:Hat s off to you Derek & Stuart for giving assistance via the forum:flash::flash:
Top men ;);)

no o ring :comp2::comp2:,guess I was so paranoid about getting new ones for the top of the barrel i didn't even notice there should be one here, don't know what size it should be,I presume it should fit inside the raised bit on the case

017-13.jpg

found another o ring in my spare parts bin its exactly the same size as the raised bit,but surely I'm looking for one the fits snugly inside rather than on the raised bit ?
018-11.jpg

top of barrel to head is fine
014-19.jpg

I've mailed the prof but he's probably taking a well earned rest from fannies wi spanners :D:D

Told you amateur,:D dont worry, you're not the first one that has made a mistake like that , i should have some O rings kicking about i think, i think it has to fit on the inside, trying to remember. keep up the good work son, proud of you

:lol2:
I'd better not pm him just now either then! ;)

That o-ring is NOT the right one but would you trust anything Andy gave you! :lol2:

Try to use Viton or similar (as on the head) rather than a B&Q plumbing o-ring. Sure you would anyway.
Impressed how quickly you can pull this motor apart now!

Only thing wrong with this thread is you should have a few mates round drinking beer watching you work.
That would be a proper "man shed"! :D
