Project Superspurt

Derek got back to me ;) that big black chap isn't the right one,I found one on the knackered casing from the old engine,a tootsie wee black one about the same size as the wee one on top of the barrel :dunno: feck knows.
To think I fired it up this morning, now its two halves like it was 2 months ago!

:lol2:
I'd better not pm him just now either then! ;)

That o-ring is NOT the right one but would you trust anything Andy gave you! :lol2:

Try to use Viton or similar (as on the head) rather than a B&Q plumbing o-ring. Sure you would anyway.
Impressed how quickly you can pull this motor apart now!

Only thing wrong with this thread is you should have a few mates round drinking beer watching you work.
That would be a proper "man shed"! :D

Great idea................Mafio, me et al that all live near to you could check the itsy 'o' ring is staying in place, talk and drink beer while watching!!! :lol2::D

Its a 12.4 mm slightly thinner o ring for the lower recess, spoke to Harry @ DG,just back fi the Weeg, let the battle commence

So that is 40p for the o-ring and £30 for fuel?
Could they not post it? :)
I'm sure they could but that would be too slow for Colin, who can strip down a bike and half the engine in half a day and have it back together by bedtime :p :D

Had a hell of a time getting engine/swingarm married back onto frame, indeed the whole shooting match fell off the lift(from its lowest position 8" fi the deck) on top of me,I'm a bit sair Guv...doesni help when ye fling yerself under though:o:o.. chips and scrapes to swingarm, frame and clutch cover:mad:
Just putting stuff back together, hopefully be back to where i was yesterday morning before i started it;)

Well done Colin
Just think how much you've learned over the last few weeks :nerd::lol2:

Its a lovely day. Turn those bike wheels. Even if it is only up the road & back.
GOOD EFFORT.
Do you do services on 848's or should I still take it to DG on Thursday?

not 848's but maybe a Superlight....though it may never be released from my garage ;)

remember these

after a going over with a wire sanding cup and then 3 stage polishing mop

voila

Shame to put them on really;)...still have the head clamps to do/replace.

thats as much as the clutch cover will shine,I have a satin black one also which i may use instead(not particularly into clutch cover bling :dunno:)

I also picked up an oil cooler from the fuel injected model, obviously I'll need to bin the carb warmer plumbing which I was thinking about doing anyway, also the hanging bracket is a little wider,so a wee 10mm ish spacer either side and it should be fine.
Better still if I could get a monster valve cover and it would sit above the head rather than below.

See you get the Monster oil lines to go with it then, they are longer. Or get ones made up at a hydraulic hose place like Pirtek

ended up staying standard fitment, cooler from fuel injected bit has a wider clamp as mentioned above but i found a couple of neat wee spacers,I've also done away with the carb heater pipework

the next step is splashing big cash on bikini fairings and a mono seat then paint obviously so that next step will most probably be a wee while away :o:o

Sod it,I think I'll just fix up old fairings just now, still wouldn't mind a Sl seat unit mind you.
I had a letter from the dvla saying my V5 will be here in a couple of weeks, don't want it festering on my lift when I have a temp option to at least try getting on the road.
