Treated the Darmah...

I was weighing up buying a normal lead acid one but i never have much luck keeping those alive :) this one was £80 so hopefully it will last half as long again as a standard one...was going to say cheapie but no such thing these days !
 
That Darmah looks really nice Neil. Remind me again why it doesn't go. By complete co-incidence I also received a 21mm combination spanner today (Ebay Silverline special). I have a 21mm socket but of course the exhaust gets in the way now the bike is built.

Talking about people being smaller in the 70s - you might appreciate this - being a Guzzi man.

1980. Mandello Del Lario on a European tour. First experience of haemorrhoids due to doing the trip on a LM1.

2010. Thirty years later - same place, new coat of paint on the gate, but I'm reduced to a bicycle. Still got the haemorrhoids, but also now a pair of titties....

ooow I've never made the trip down to Mandello.. :cool: its a trip thats still on my list...

Darmah is off to get rewired next week... once its back it'll have an oil change and then I'll have a go at bleeding the brakes and getting it running.. it ran ok when I bought it ! :)
 
not sure anyone wants to see me in a thong astride my bike, or in any situation to be honest :lol2:

talking of your site Paddy, I'll need a set of pillion footpegs for MOT time..

You'll also be glad to hear that after a trial fit i decided the sparkly handlebar grips were a little OTT so they remain on the shelf!
 
Pillion pegs are no problem Neil, i can do you a good price. Seriously would you mind if i added your bike to my site ? it would be great to get Dereks 860 on there as well ?

nothing to report at the moment except that i spoke to the man doing the rewiring, and apparently the front half and back half are done, waiting on delivery of the new coils so that he can do the bit in the middle :lol2:

as an aside, purely for research reasons I had a sit on a 620 Monster.... aren't they small!??! my knees were touching the top of the tank where it flares outwards... are all Monsters the same size?
 
ok... so the bike has returned from being re-wired.. :)

BUT it wont start...

there is spark at the plugs.

I 'think' there is fuel although the plugs aren't as wet as i expected from turning it over...

so... I've checked the floats and both appear to move freely... how can i prove there is fuel getting through.

and... what else would stop it from starting if the plugs are sparking? its not even attempting to fire at the moment.. (yes kill switch is set to 'run' :) )

is there a slightly disappointed smilie... :ohwell: that'll do..
 
new dynatek coils, new r/h switchgear, new reg/rec, new fusebox... other than rewired following the original layout..
 
Hmmm...

Bearing in mind you have a spark when operating in open air, I would try a couple of items
  • remove the plugs, heat them up (which makes them fun to screw in) & try again
  • swap in some new plugs
  • perhaps a quick sqirt of EasyStart
At least these are all zero cost unless you need to buy some plugs. I buy boxes of 10 Champion's...
