The price of cattle food has gone up because grain is being diverted into ethanol production and whole crop maize is being fed into digesters to make methane to power generators. On top of which beer consumption has dropped thus brewers grains are less available thus dearer.
That is one reason beef prices have risen.
Grass fed, grass finished...I realise that is not intensive and would cost more anyway though
