Yes there was an ostrich farm in Singleton not far away. They used to come to us dressed (killed, plucked, gutted) and we’d take it from there. The heads necks and feet were already off too.

How do they work that out...has grass stopped growing or something?
Another good reason for meat based diets is, between cattle, sheep, goats, deer...they grow all year round, in all sorts of places you can't grow crops, the grass they eat soaks up carbon (so all the farts produced is a zero sum carbon equation...not that that matters anyway except to the climate zealots). The food they eat grows everywhere (everywhere there are people that is).
Anyone who says meat is bad for the environment is mental.
The price of cattle food has gone up because grain is being diverted into ethanol production and whole crop maize is being fed into digesters to make methane to power generators. On top of which beer consumption has dropped thus brewers grains are less available thus dearer.

Grass fed, grass finished...I realise that is not intensive and would cost more anyway though

climate changean unseasonably hot dry summer we are very short of grass and other forage crops (much on a par with 1976). So there is a lot of competition for all available bulk feeds.
