Would you be happy to take prescribed medication to lower it, if needed ?

Only if that medication was addressing the cause and not just masking the symptoms. Or in an emercency if it needed to be brought down fast.
I believe high blood pressure can also be a hereditary thing, my Father and older Brother both had / have it
I thought there were two types of cholesterol, basically 'good' and 'bad'.

No - this explains it;
Not sure I fully follow that second paragraph, implies that the cholesterol builds up after the event ? That's correct, kind of. It doesn't 'build up'- it is there to mend whatever needs mending.

Agreed.

Though I would say with some exceptions on the doctors front.
Yes, I did say only the majority - there are a few good ones.

Will watch that when I get the time. Cheers.

The ‘mainstream’ research / advice whatever seems to suggest that people with high cholesterol are more likely to suffer related illnesses.
Maybe there’s an ideal ‘level’, like many things.

Sadly it wouldn’t be a surprise if the truth were that ‘they’ want us to think a certain way and keep taking the pills. 🙁

My doctor has told me I have high cholestrol. Wants me to take statins. I think my level is 6? Or some such and healthy ( in nz) is about 2-3? Anyhu, i ain't taking em . Keep getting phone call and email from someone supposedly attached to the docs surgery questioning why I don't want these pills..
It pisses me off greatly as ive made my choice..
I'm prescribed a bunch of pain killers, inflammatories , sleeping pills and stomach pills that are supposed to stop the other pills eating my stomach lining. I take none of em . I did for a few months 4 years back and felt like shit and they had basically no effect on reducing my shoulder pain .
I play the game and get repeat prescriptions or my doc will think I'm cured and not put me forward for surgery. What a waste of tax payers money. 4 years of these various pills have cost how much?.
Anyhu, i am finally to have reconstruction on both shoulders at some point in the next 12 months...

I think I have told this story on the forum before... but here goes .. my mother in law late last year had some pretty scary liver results.. basically the liver was starting to fail under serious toxicity .. my wife being the daughter that handles all her mams meetings was very worried.. as always she asked my opinion and showed me her mams drug regime... now dude I was shocked so that will tells yi... but slap bang in the middle of her daily routine was statins.. my dad passed away from cancer that is supposedly rare but every person we met along his journey had being taken statins for 10 years plus ...simply I looked at her cholesterol results and told my wife to take her off statins... 3 months later her liver had normalised.. the doctor was apocalyptic at this news despite the turn around in liver function... that tells you how the gobshites think ... research how serious statins were back when introduced and look at how willy nilly everyone is prescribed them now .. 👍

The third biggest cause of death in the USA…officially…is pharmaceutical drugs that have been ‘appropriately’ prescribed.
That isn’t a secret. It isn’t a theory.
Most people just want to believe what the doc tells them. There’s an old phrase, “get a second opinion”.
Do it, always. And ask for examples and percentages of where it’s been successful.

Teachers; doctors; lawyers…never accept anything they say without putting a great deal of thought and research into it first.

I've not. But I'm taking.apple cider vinegar daily now. Not that I'm overly concerned about my cholestrol count , more to see if this actually works to lower my count. Got a bud who has has many heart attacks, the first at 27 years old, despite him being a fit as fuck rugby player and moto x racer.. his cholestrol was off the scale high but like me he didn't wa t to take the meds, apple cider vinegar daily brought his cholestrol back to " normal " levels...

I've no idea what my blood pressure or cholesterol levels are. Stress can kill, so I don't worry about it.
Yep, stressing about shit can kill ya for sure. Making a few changes may lower ya stress and save ya. Trouble is that it's hard to work out what really needs addressing and what is woke waffle as everyone on the payroll has little interest in you...

I'd worry about my cholestrol levels if I believed it had something to do with my overall health but from what I've seen , no "medical professiona" that i have seen has a fucken clue in regards this. In fact r they don' seem to have a clue at all. 2 surgeons viewed my scans of my shoulders and were of the opinion that my shoulder ssues could be resolved with surgery but drugs and physio is all ive had for 4 years now. No change at all, physio made em worse and the therapist could see that so stopped his attempts at treating me.

"We need to prescribe you costly medication. Our business model and the business model of every organisation in the supply chain demands that we prescribe costly medication to you.
"All we need to do now is describe a condition we can apply to you and we're good. Go take your meds.

"Let us pray:
"Our John D Rockefeller, who art in Heaven, hallowed by thy name ..."

Go back and use ancient healing treatments, lets face it they work and have been used for thousands of years!! The reason they are not made main stream is there is no money in it and natural treatments are cheap and even free if you know what your looking for. I used to get realy bad tennis elbow in my left arm due to my job, heavy lifting most of the day. My Dr suggested acupuncture so gave it a go for a six week course and have never had it since, that was back in 2006. (y)

Our family doctor when I was a kid was an old Chinese guy. Dr Chong.. he was a good man and an advocate of alternative medicine. As in natural substances and acupuncture. I've had acupuncture for many ailments ans found it great for the most part by some things it just don't work for....it helped greatly for pain relief in my shoulders initially But didn't cure the problem . Putting needles in yaself feels great ( ask Amy Winehouse) but it's not necessarily a cure all
