Took the Great Dane to the vets today, he’s being neutered Wednesday and had to have a pre op check.

Nurse did the checks then asked if I minded her taking him out back as other staff wanted to meet him, sat there for a while listening to them make a fuss of him.
I’m sure he had a big grin on his face all the way home, attention seeking git.

Not sure he’ll be quite as happy Wednesday evening though. 🙁

Birthday gift to myself last weekend. A Costa Rican Zebra tarantula. Would like to get a Regal Jumping Spider as they are friendly and cute as the devil but they don't live very long.

If that thing came anywhere near me I’d give it 8 Chinese burns and a kick up the arse!!
To be honest I’d probably faint…
Do you actually pick the thing up Faith?

No, I have not held this one and don't plan to. I am more interested in observing them. I think they are fascinating. This particular type is shy, skittish and moves very fast. It would be too risky to handle it. A fall could be fatal.
The last tarantula we had for 11 years and it wasn't held once. I transferred it with a cup to a smaller container when it's tank needed to be cleaned.

A Jumping Spider on the other hand doesn't mind being handled, is small(maybe avg. 1/2"), very friendly, personable, see well and recognize their caregivers. They are often used to help people get over their fear of spiders. They only live to be 1 to 2 1/2 years. Thinking hard about getting one but don't really want the heartache when it goes. Decisions!
