Scratched the itch tonight and sniped this off the Bay of Fleas (I have an excuse that my birthday is this month, and Elsie tells me I should treat myself as she can't afford to).


I haven't told her yet, and I need to think of a number she'll be happy with when I respond to her question "Fuck Ron - how much have you wasted on that?"

I went for a ride on Helga II last Friday. When I got off, and loosened my jacket sleeve, my Omega Seamaster fell from my wrist. :oops: I think I've been lucky not to loose it. The link pin had fallen out. I remember a few years ago when I rode to Venice on a bike, I found a pin about a 1/3 of the way out of the bracelet. I pushed it back in by hand and thought no more of it, I think this may have been the same one.

I called into the Omega shop in Newcastle on Saturday on my way out to get lashed, and they didn't have the parts to fix it ! :oops: They said it would probably have to go to Omega for repair $$$$$, but asked me to see if I had a spare link for it at hoime and they could use that for parts to fix it.I put the watch in my pocket and went to get drunk. I had 1/2 a link when I checked the watch box, but not what I needed.

Doing some research, each link has a pin and 2 inserts that fit in the link with the 2 lugs. I managed to buy a set of 1 x pin and 2 x inserts from eBay for £15, which arrived today. I put them back in place and as good as new, the new pin in now very tight in the link and in no danger of falling out. I think I'll check the rest of the pins by seeing how much force it takes to remove each pin and buy new ones if required.

I bought the watch new in 1999 and in 27 years I've not once had it serviced, it just keeps ticking away as good as gold. 🥰

Had mine since 94, on its second bracelet and both have been re pinned a couple of times, they do wear out pretty quickly and have a habit of shedding pins! Had mine serviced once back in the early 2000’s but it has recently stopped and there is a problem with the manual winding mechanism. Need to get it fixed if I can find anyone I can trust to do it 🤔
 
Same happened when swatch did the Omega collaberation. They wouldn't sell online and you could only get them at about half a dozen stores in the entire U.K. Flippers would queue up and even advertise them before even buying them.

At those stores they are £335, Have a look at the prices on ebay


Something that suprised me when they did the swatch omega watches at £225, Temu,shien and dhgate were selling fake versions and some for less than a tenner
