I must get the old KTM back on the road next year and pay a visit to old Erin. Never been. Shocking omission. All these years and never been to meet the neighbours. Looks lovely.
We still have a very small population so plenty of places like this Gimlet .. im naturally a person who stays away from organised fun but my wife encouraged me to meet up with the lads from the forum doing the Ireland trip.. from the first interaction with @Hugo Magnus and his lovely wife i knew people where what they said here and not bullshitters and it was fantastic to see the north and northwest of this island with such a small population.. @West Cork Paul put a super trip together.. id be up for it again should your grumpy self want some company

I used to enjoy my trips to Loomies when I lived down there. Once I'd found a twisty back road route that avoided the long boring Roman road section.
I remember one of my first rides on the Streetfighter after I'd got it back from Louigi Moto was to Loomies. The Petrol station down the road didn't sell E5 premium fuel so if my fuel light came on between Winchester and the cafe on the way in, which it usually did if I'd filled up at home, I always used to creep back to Winchester and fill up at Tesco where they had E5. This time with an extra 25 bhp on tap after Rich's tuning work it didn't make it and I was left stranded half way. Some nice chap driving past in his car stopped to offer help. It turned out he was also a Ducati owner with a 1098 SBK and he drove to Winchester and filled a can and brought it back to get me going. Wouldn't take a penny in payment either. When I opened my wallet to pay for the fuel and his trouble he was in his car and gone.
Hopefully I'll have a better winter work-wise this year than I did last. Then an Ireland trip will definitely be on the cards. If there's another forum tour I'd be happy top tag along. Ireland is a great destination from where I live because I'm only about a two to three hour ride from the Belfast ferry at Cairnryan and the ride west is a really nice one. The Multi and the Ccm were both low on fuel. I asked my son to ris=de one of them to the filling station and I rode the other. We were going to have a short run up to Compton Abbas before lunch. Son took the Multi and when he went to pull away from the filling station the emergency flashers came on so we rode back home. It was then we noticed that the left hand switch gear was inoperative. On further investigation we noticed that the 6 pin socket had, somehow pulled out of the switchgear. All worked again when we plugged it back in and the flashers stopped so we went to C.Abbas It was very hot up there and surprisingly busy.
Decided to just go out for a pootle about 11.30 am, few miles down the road I realised I didn’t have my gloves on! Something I’ve never done in my life!!! Anyway back home gloves on and try again, all good until I got to garage to fuel up, about 4 miles away bloody clutch was playing up! Back home,bled the air out all good! Was only going for an hour but ended up Abergavenny, Builth,Rhayader Leominster and back to Hereford, nearly four hours in all, enjoyable and saw hundreds of bikes out but I’ve come to the conclusion a v4r is for the track and really not for the road ! Think my hips have given up
Thanks to all that wet riding experience I got in Scotchland, I safely made it home through a major summer storm and tornado watch on the SF. That bike's a freakin' dream. Was able to ride at normal speeds which kept the rain off the visor just fine. I did have to stop and wait a bit of it out.
Why just the calipers and not the entire bike?

I went down there to meet up with a mate, There was no visible police presence there or on the roads. It was quite a carnival atmosphere with a rock band playing too. I attempted to go once, years ago. They wanted £2 off me at the road block to take my bike in while civilians on foot could wander around for nothing, so I turned around and left. Wasn't so much the charge - though I thought that was a cheek given that it was the bikes that were attracting people there to spend their money with local businesses - but it was rammed and I had no change and couldn't be arsed to take my gloves off.
After that I took to going to the bike night at Bugad Bikes in Cranborne, until that suddenly stopped without warning. Got too big and overwhelmed them I think. After that it was West Bay or ride around on my own.
Don't like big bike meets anymore. I used to go to Devil's Bridge up here at Kirkby Lonsdale. Great ride to get there but far too busy now and the idiot count has risen sharply over the last couple of years. Nowadays my rides are between convenient tea stops. Usually other bikers there with the same idea but they're not really formal bike meets. Think I'm becoming people-phobic in my old age.
