So I did the run on Tuesday

Twas a great day and everyone really enjoyed it, a long way, a challenge but they really enjoyed it. I’m still totting up the money raised and once I have a final figure I’ll let everyone know.
I did some admin work on the event yesterday morn, washed the bike and gave it a good going over yesterday afternoon (I need new tyres now after last week, 2776km
, 10700 or so in total on them - the front’s ok but the rear’s only got a couple of K left in it), then got a message to go into work today & tomorrow so no time to myself.
I’ll update this thread soon, promise.

. I organised a meet up there for peeps off the other forum, most of whom are here now. I even had a ‘you can’t believe it’s not meat’ or whatever they call it burger, you know, the hipster vegetable mince stuff that bleeds - wouldn’t have again though. Maybe I’ll organise another one, I know you’d come along

So there were 13 of us did the ride in the end, myself and 12 other random people who saw me pushing it on FB and I have the utmost respect for each and every one of them who all took 3 days (or more) out of their lives to ride there, take part and then ride home, not to mention the cost of fuel, wear & tear and accomodation, plus they all (as was the intent) raised sponsorship.
Overall we raised €8,168 with a bit more still coming in in dribs & drabs. This is enough for 2 call outs for the helicopter which could be 2-4 lives saved so thank you to everyone on here who donated.
The day started off wet & miserable but soon brightened up, despite it being a long day, 14-16hrs, everyone enjoyed it and intend to do it again next year, different route.
Here’s a few photos from the day but special mention must go to the couple in the first photo, Ruairi & Ciara as this was the very first time Ciara had ever ridden pillion
and a 900km non-stop stint is a bit of a baptism of fire.
If I can recall all the bikes, there was:
2 x Multistradas
2 x BMW GSA
Honda Africa Twin
Honda Pan European
Honda Deauville
Yamaha Dragstar 650
Aprilia Tuono Factory
Yamaha MT-09
Honda VFR
Suzuki V-Strom 1100
Honda CB600 R
Overall we raised €8,168 with a bit more still coming in in dribs & drabs. This is enough for 2 call outs for the helicopter which could be 2-4 lives saved so thank you to everyone on here who donated
