Still waiting for +20 degrees to spray the engine parts outside, but in the mean time I have spunked loads of wonga on something 
which will hopefully arrive tomorrow, this on top of the £180 I spent on the Speedo at the show on Sunday that's nearly a grand this week. I feel a bit nauseous

So at last, the first +20 deg C day is likely to be on Saturday so today I finished prepping the crank cases by keying the paint with 400 Wet & Dry. Then gave it a go with the airline to get rid of the dust. All that remains is a good wipe over with 100% Isopropanol wipes and it's all systems go - if the weather doesn't change........................

Personally, I'd give the engine no. a very fine coat and then mask over it when you paint the casings.
The crank cases are pretty good on all visual faces so will be having a light coat anyway, other unseen areas where the alloy is showing in small areas will have a dusting of etch primer and a light coat of black. All the engine cases are only there to mask and will be blasted and clear cerakoted... the engine number stamping is very deep too.Personally, I'd give the engine no. a very fine coat and then mask over it when you paint the casings.
