Medical Update

Good to see you have an op date soon, I think it sounds worse than it is but will still be worth it in the end as it has to be better than how it is at the moment

Yes, it was looking very clearly 'wrong' at the masher. Glad you are on the way to getting things sorted Bruce.

Sounds like good news Bruce, look fwd to having a thrash round with you next season. Jack and Victor on two mad monsters:D

at Borders General ..... I feel pain coming on

I was taken in to BGH (or GBH as the wee midwife I was seeing referred it) with suspected kidney stones, bent in two I was. Anyway, they were very liberal with the morphine then so heres hoping things haven't changed too much over the years... ;)

Good news on the medical front Bruce. Upwards & onwards.;)
Should be fit for next seasons days ooooooooot.;):D

Sounds painful but I'm sure it will be worth it. Mind you where will the parrot perch now. Good luck.:D

I suppose you'll be to tender to thump for a while yet.;)

Good news that its finally getting sorted Bruce and if the prognosis is good then it will be even better. :)

As for the pain, you know the routine.....take everything on offer! ;)

Still have plenty tramadol left, smokin them in a pipe whilst playing guitar is good!!! No old hippy jokes now boys and girls!!

Good news for you too Bruce - def be worth a wee bit of pain to get it sorted out properly:)

NHS waiting times!!!!

Well after the crash in May it looks like February for a shoulder re-constructioin!! 34 yrs in banking with free BUPA never needed it and now fooked!!! nEVER MIND IF BGH (Melrose) cant do it then its Darlington or Glasgow!! Wot's going on here!!!

Crap news there Bruce. How long will the recovery & physio take to get you back on the bike?
Looks like spring will be spent lifting weights & rebuiilding muscles.
Can you not get it any quicker anywhere else?

Make yourself popular.
Ask about waiting time guarantees and breaching targets.

Usually speeds them up markedly.

On the plus side at least you will get a Xmas panto season run as Quasimodo while you wait.

Sorry Bruce only joking! Hope you get sorted sooner than later.

Upon reflection, yes stewart I can do panto season as "QUASIMODO" !! Ye git!!! But it will impact in that I will be unable to drive/ride for min 8 weeks post op so wanted it done winter time so to be fully operational for spring, looks now like my "season" will start late, but hey I am lucky to be here so no stress!!!! Every day I draw breath is a bonus!!!:D

Take Shed Bob's advice and start asking questions. People tend to simply accept waiting times etc. but it's surprising what happens when you ask the right questions.

Thanks guys and girls for the advice and comments thus far...The possibility of getting op done Glasgow or Darlington is as a result of BGH being unable to "do" me within timescales so it could now be earlier than Feb, would quite like to be in over Christmas so I can be a right grumpy old git cos I hate all the crap that is Christmas!!!!:D

We could all come and visit you and bring Christmas cheer, wouldn't that be nice!;):D

If it's Glasgow it may be the Golden Jubilee down at Clydebank which is very fantoosh. I believe you can bring a "carer" who stays in the attached hotel while you get hacked about next door.
Hotel rooms v.nice. iMac in every room.
Probably wouldn't help your shoulder much though (the hotel rooms that is)

It's Darlington

Well, got back from work yesterday and on the mat is the letter inviting me to attend Woodlands Private Hospital in Darlington for the op!! This is great news as it means I will be operated on within a few weeks, so will be fully recovered by spring!!!
Does anyone in the Durham area know anything about Woodlands??:D
