My empire of dirt...

Thought id post an update but tbh there is fuck all to report... Last weekend id finally recovered from that flu enough to head to the beach for a few hours on sat and Sunday I did a bit of gardening. Monday I was back at work and finally earning some money. What money i did earn didn't last long as ive desperately needed new batteries for my tools for ages, was down to 2 which was a fucken hassle. They are normally over 200 bucks for a 5 amp 18v job but an outfit were doing 5 for $530 so I went in with a mate and got 3 for $320 ish.. This morning I went into town and spent 700 on materials. Now I've only beer money left in my wallet...
Anyhu, ive sorted the lean to ( yet again) and am stockpiling materials till we have enough to do the big push on the back end of the house. In the meantime ive still a section of ceiling to clear out and drop then put in temp supports and pull up floors so some progress will be made soon!
I did manage to, one evening last week, build a temporary deck out the front of the spare bedroom/temporary kitchen. Just got to fit some locks and stays and we can the. Use the patio doors!!!
And my black capsicum plant has ripe fruit on it...

Right, have just packed the hinges on the patio doors and fitted some stays.. just gotta fit the shoot bolts. After a beer or 2. It's fucken hot here. Atm this end of the house is in the shade and a nice breeze is blowing so ive set up a perch here for a bit. In a few hours the sun will streaming through the side window in this room and it will be too hot in here.
Not bad views if you ignore the few neighbors over the road. Still, it ain't red brick terraced housing so we ain't too hard done by...

One kick in the bollocks after another atm..
After having to put a new rad in the car, being laid up with the flu, a blow out in b's car and my car over heating and needing a tow home ( possible head gasket), I had another shit week with the weather, b has a cracked windscreen and today we had to by a new mattress as the one we bought 4 years back has glass fibers coming out of it..
Im broke, probably need a new car and ive just heard my shoulder surgery may be in 2 to 3 months..
Anyhu...
Today I am burning all the timber that over the last few days i have removed from the ceilings and the last of the load bearing walls.. tomorrow is a public holiday so ill be pulling up flooring and clearing all the crap out.
I've just picked up a concrete mixer so in the near future ill be back on piles.
Then we need about 10k for materials to do the structural works, cladding and roof .

What a fucken mess.. dont think ive ever seen something so badly built..
the lon ean to extention to the read of the house, that housed part of the kitchen was built, with consent, in 1971.
Although it had consent, I find it hard to believe that it was ever inspected. At the moment I am struggling to see anything other than a few nails skewed though the 3x2 rafters holding the lean to to the main structure.
The floor ( bearers, joists ect ) have been built a lower level to the existing floor, then packed up with various bits and bobs and plywood over to marry it up. Very badly...
The double 6 x 2 beam that is holding up half the gable and the lean to roof has a butt join in it and at one end is only bearing on a stick of timber of 90 x 30mm.
I think the only reason its not fallen down is there is fuck all weight in these small timber framed houses. That and the stud work and cladding have made the gable in to some sort of truss...
anyhu, it will all be remedied, its just made life more difficult..

Yesterday me and a mates son got the rest of the floors pulled up, cleared out nearly 2 cubes of shit from under the house and burnt a pile of wood.
Just having a coffee then im gunna put some temporary supports her and there and lay some temporary flooring. If I have time I might start digging holes!
It's a long weekend here so b is in auckland till tomorrow. I had a bit of a bender at pub yesterday so things are moving a bit slowly today.
Just had to round the chickens up in the neighbors garden and throw em back over the fence. They are in lock down now and not happy about it. Lil fuckers...

Pretty much one a day each!! The breed is a highline, which is a hybrid , bred for egg production.. apparently they lay up to 320 eggs a year . They are happy and healthy so are little laying machines. They are daft as fuck and real needy so great entertainment.
We let em out for a good few hours each day and they cause all sort of mischief..
It turns out they dont like the last bit of graun left in their feeder. This morning the 3 of em surrounded me an went nuts coz their food was low. Plenty there but they dont like the dregs.. typical females.. .
They are actually quite well behaved for the most part, they eat the cucumbers and stuff i give em from the garden but dont help themselves. Apart from the cherry tomatoes, they eat all the low growing ones.
 
Yesterday morning I got on the jacks and pretty much leveled out the rear end of the house. Most of it had to come up 50-65mm with one section having to come up 115mm!!! I'd raised that area 69 odd mm a good few months back and another 30 odd 2 weeks ago . It all came into place with little fuss , its all within a few mm of cock on and on dunnage so nothing stopping me digging the last 7 holes and getting cracking with new piles and concrete.
Gunna be a bitch of a job as these holes are to be dug under the existing bearers..
It's such a shame that the lean to extension needs smashing over and rebuilding otherwise all piles could be completed and we could move on nicely.

Coffee then on the shovel... I will get some concrete mixed today! Unless mates turn up and corrupt me . Which is a possibility..
There is a motox event a few km up the road which a few buds are going to, fuckers were tooting and yelling out front of our house at 7.00 am.

6 holes dug!!!! I thought that id finally got em all done , with the exception of the lean to, but no... there is 2 more stumps further back in an area id put temporary flooring over..
Doh!!!!
They gunna be a proper bitch so later on those fuckers. Just having a beer then I shall start cutting and fixing piles.
Might get on to concrete yet...
Tbh I dont even know if the mixer works. Picked it up of a mate a few weeks back, its not been used in 8 years and ive not tested it yet! Oh well...

Feels like it! Holes are only 500 deep ish by 450-500 across but thats 2 heaped wheelbarrow loads a hole . The wheelbarrow is 80ltrs i think , but can fit 4 x 40 ltr buckets of dirt on it, heaped up..
On paper the holes are only about 90 ltrs but dirt expands massively when dug up!
Anyhu, its a fucken mission..
