What have you done on your bike today?

As I've said today I went for a ride on my bike. Its about the fifth ride I've had on it.
I part exchanged my 1098 for it. Im forced to admit having just turned 71 I'm getting a bit old for touring on a sportsbike so I went for a BMW
I won't accept its a panzer
Its a K1600 GT.
First ride out i thought what the hell have i done. Its twice the wieght of the 1098 and I could barely get my feet on the floor.
Soon as I got home I was on the computer and bought a riders seat off Ebay. Amazingly it arrived the next day. The intention was to take it to a bloke in Bridlington and have him reshape and cut out a lot of the padding. A stroke of luck it was already cut down.
I can't wear leather trousers because they stop me sliding from side to side. My wife has bought me some AAArated armoured base layer leggings so I can wear jeans or combats on it and the final revelation I have lovely pair of boots that I have not worn for a while. When I wear them I can get my feet flat on the floor.
What made me decide to get a touring orientated bike was the tours my mates and I have planned for the coming year while we still have the life in us.
Below is a picture of the boots and the bike

Funny you say that, i looked up about a carb kit and there are a lot out there, for a good quality conversion kit is over a grand, so that is a no!! :ROFLMAO:
I see you have started the conversion process!

Ticks a few boxes, but I reckon it'll be more money than I'd want to pay.

I half fancy a Hypermotard 698 and stick some nobblies on it - can get them under £8k which is top end of what I'd be looking at. I don't want to get precious over it.
Never ridden the Hyper but have heard they are pretty bad ass!!(y)

Went to the Farm Shop today in the sunshine and on dry roads. Wow.
The new sports-touring Bridgestone rear tyre inspires a lot more confidence on tarmac than the dual-role Tourance tyre I had previously. More confidence will occur when I change the front to match.

MOT done with no advisories, which it shouldn't have seeing it was only 95 miles since the last one.

It's back in the unit now - if the weather's nice this weekend might give it a run.

The Speedie is booked for service, check why the ABS light is on, and first MOT for a week on Saturday so I'll see what they've got for me to play on for an hour or two while they do it.

The service is £275, but I get dealer warranty continuously if it's serviced there every year (that said, it was Nov '24 when it was last done).

None. The first bike I had was a crosser that I bought off a mate for £350 and I came off it within about 5 minutes on a disused motocross track that was near his house. So I decided to go for road bikes after that.
Offroading is a completely different discipline. I think swapping from dirt riding to road riding would be much easier than visa versa. I recommend having a go, it's great fun.

Today i was going to go out on the Harley as it's meant to be dry sunny but a bit cold. I was about to go out and then it pissed down, so change of plans, i ordered new front and clutch levers that i recieved over the weekend. The brake lever doesn't fit but i can sort it with a hammer but decided not to and i'm sending them back!! The one's that are on it are to much on the bling side for me, the new ones i got them from Wemoto that are meant to be good. (n) I then sorted the wear and tear bits, my ocd kicking in, i had a good look at it for the first time and yeah it has had a shit load of money spent on it. I'm going to take the metal twisted sissy bar off and give it a respray as the paint is flaking off it, i have loads of black spray cans so no money needed for that job.:)
It's meant to be raining tomorrow so it will be dry sunny and 50 degrees, useless Guinnesss!!

After you take the twisted metal sissy bar off to spray it, i think you should leave it off.
Are you planning on taking sissys out on it?
