My b is away in auckland and ive been putting more flooring down in the lean to area. Only temporarily, as ive mentioned before, we must rebuild that area.
I thought id knock together a mock up of the kitchen lay out as a bit of a surprise for b coz she was struggling to see my vision even though I done a drawing..
We are miles off from being able to make the kitchen proper but I really wanted to see how its all gunna work out.
I love it.
The island will be on castors so as to be movable.
The sink will be under the window ( where the hammer is). That window gets swapped out for 1 thats is a 3rd bigger, 1800 wide and the oven and hob will be on the longer run of work top, next to the coffee cup.
The patio doors will be swapped out for a set that is nearly twice as wide. Those will come to where the yellow level is..
Gunna be ace!

My original kitchen design was with a breakfast bar rather than a island but I dont think it works as well.
Also it would be a right Guinness to make the worktop in that shape. I could do it but it would be heavy as fuck in solid oak and very difficult manage once all joined together.
Im just proving up the last bit of flooring by the toilet as we are having a party easter weekend a d I dont want no one going through the floor!
The chickens are helping...

What about extending the units to red and then the breakfast bar overlap in yellow. That would open up the entrance to the kitchen and so B can sit there at the breakfast bar swigging booze whilst you're doing the washing up

The thing with that insane idea is that the new patio doors will run to were that level leaning against the wall is. Your breakfast bar will be in the fucken door opening!

IMHO breakfast bars are shite. Who wants to sit looking at a wall. There is one in my kitchen, I got rid of the bar stools and now its a space for the dog bowls.

Deffo at least if you're fitting one have it on an Island or facing a window. Mine was fitted before I bought the place!

The mad thing here in Ireland is probably most of us have mixed ancestry.. my mams maidan name is Scottish my family name is Welsh my wife's maidan name is Scottish my great grandfather was a Scottish free Presbyterian but his son was staunch Catholic buiried under the Tri colour and decorated for service's in the 1916 rising and the foundation of the irish Republicin 1922... its a mental old place
