Are you asleep again now.......Finally got to sleep about 20 mins ago but just got woken to do bp. Wtf? 115/75. Perfect. Must be the morphine...
Anyhu, she says she wont wake me again.
No Presidency for Chiz then!Bone spurs eh?
Good to hear it went well, wishing you a great and speedy recovery!!Got surgery at 1.00 pm.
Had a general anesthetic and was also offered a nerve blocker, they identify the nerve via ultrasound and then freeze it, supposed to give 24hrs of zero pain but it didnt work. Apparently this can happen.
Im being kept in over night because no one has been available to discuss aftercare or give me meds to take away.
All good. Just had some morhine and went for a wander. Found myself in an off limits area and while i was being escorted back to my room i bumped into the surgeon who did my op. Stroke of luck as i was told he had gone home so i wasnt going to get a summary of how it all went.
Anyhu he was more than happy to chat for 5 and told me it went really well and i definitely needed the tenodesis surgery despite previously not being convinced i would benefit from it. He also removed the bone spurs from my collar bone ( hopefully this will help with the hand pain as well as making things slide more freely.
I guess only time will tell but he is of the opinion that i will make a speedy recovery and my time in a sling will only be 2-3 weeks rather than 6 as is the standard.
Im pretty comfortable if quite sore but i can imagine a good few painfull nights coming up!
Imma vote for 'im!No Presidency for Chiz then!
If you have bone spurs, you mustn't be President. I read that here!
@WAYNE wants to know moreJust had this limp arm for hours which swung around; but zero pain for the first time in ages
My arm itself is pretty dead as i accidentally undone my sling and dropped my arm ! But plenty of feeling in the shoulder. I have no doubt though that there will be a world of hurt to come. Especially as ive been prescribed tramadol to take home and that has never done a great deal for me.I had the nerve block during one of my shoulder ops; it was amazing. Just had this limp arm for hours which swung around; but zero pain for the first time in ages. Unfortunately it wore off in the middle of the night & I awoke to the worst pain I had ever known. Was almost crying; they must have beat the shit out of me during the surgery.

Yea, thats what they gave me. I had to be propped up on the sofa with cushions; couldn’t move any which way. But it got better. No more morphine for you, Chiz. You're all fucked up.Been awake for a large part of the night, not too uncomfortable just my terible sleeping. Anyhu the cafe here opens at 7 so i thought id suffle up to get a nice coffee instead of the instant on the ward. No fucken wallet.
Went through my bag of possessions a good few times, looked on the floor a d then went to the nurses station. They checked all the cupboards and nothing.
Tbh i wasnt so worried about lossing 150 bucks and all my cards, more that i couldnt get coffee.. so i went out for a vape and when i got back it had been found wedged in the handrail of my bad.
How the fuck it got there i will never work out.
Coffee had im about to go find out was this morning has i. Store and when i can go home.
Next time im in i will just bri g a bit of cash ina pocket, which id normally do but was a bit flustered on tuesday morning.
Staff here are bloody great.

So im free! But not before i was taken to the transit lounge to await disscharge papers and my script.
Ok. The lady that took me was obviously care in the community. First she puts me in a elevator, in the middle and as she was a good 30 stone shethen has to squeeze past to get to the buttons. She does this on my injured side and bangs my arm.
Then she is talking to herself ' dont get lost dont get lost", lift spots, she wheels me out and says 'im lost".
After smashing me through a few sets of double doors she finds an orderly who guides her , not for the first time id imagine, to the transit lounge.
To be continued, my lift is here...
They are just the same in the UK.So yea we get 10 feet from the reception and she's like "i remember now". I ask if its her first day but no, shes been there for 7 months. Its her only fucken job, wheel people to the transit fucken lounge..
Just for good measure, she smashes my chair into the reception desk ( on my gimpy side), luckily i saw it coming and got my shoulder out the way. "That was a close one" she says and woobles off to find her way back to her happy place.
The 90 year old bird behind the desk wasnt much smarter. I take a seat not 10 feet from her, she saw me come in, we smashed into her desk for fucks sake. She watched me as i took a seat and said nothing.
I gave it 5 and thought id go up and see if she knew roughly how long this would take.
"What is your name and where are you sitting?"
"Chiz and im over there"
"Which seat?"
"That one" (pointing)
"The one nearest us or the window?"
ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!
" By the window"
" Its just ive got to log you in and i need to know where to find you".
There was 4 seats only, all empty and all visible from her desk...
Next up was trying to find out how i get let out. The doctor needs to do the discharge papers and write the script. Id seen him write the script earlier and put it with my notes, which this old bird had open infront of her , almost as if she knew i was coming, well, she should have as she sent big bertha to collect me.
So she goes through all the papers, no, he hasnt done it yet.
But i saw it. No you didnt.
You can leave now and we can email docs to you. Unfortunately i needed my script so i could collect on the way home.
Well you will have to wait then, maybe an hour or so as doc is on rounds.
With that she slams my file shut.
And there is the fucken script taped to the fucken front cover...
They are just the same in the UK.
The NHS is one of the world’s largest employers, with around 1.37 million full-time equivalent staff in Englandas of January 2025.
The system is too big to work and needs cutting right back.
