Been out of it the past few weeks with a kidney stone FFS, going in Wednesday to get it taken out. Tired of pussing in a strainer and taking meds. Catching up on the threads.

The weather's been perfect, but no riding here til this is sorted. I did manage to install the Oberon on the SF, will be taiking it in for that recall service on the 7th.

My mate had the lazor treatment - it was worse than the stones and knocked him sick for days. I hope it goes well buddy....and go easy on the oxelates (y)

Good luck for Wednesday. Kidney stones are not a joke.

That sounds very uncomfortable. Do you have any idea how you can prevent a re-occurrence or is it just 'one of those things?

All the best mate.

I think genetic predisposition has a lot to do with it. But a diet high in the wrong minerals, poor hydration and underlying medical conditions are also factors.
My Dad should have been a high risk. His diet wasn't ideal, he had a sedentary lifestyle, rarely drank plain water and eventually died from renal failure linked to type 2 diabetes, all red flags. Yet he never had kidney stones. So maybe luck and genes play a large part.

Given that stones are formed from calcites I would have thought that drinking filtered water if you live in an area with high levels of calcites has to be a good idea. I'm lucky to live in an area with extremely good water quality with very low levels of calcites. After nearly five years my kettle still looks brand new.

Hope it goes well, not had a stone but won't be trying for one either 😬

Our chalk supply here has a good deal of water in it.

Maybe I should go back to filtering my water but maybe CBFA.
It might not be chalk at all. Given that your water has passed through dozens of other bladders before you drink it, the chalky matter could just be the sediment from other people's kidney stones.

Our water has come from the sky and been filtered through heather. There's a lot to be said for that rather than drinking out of someone else's toilet bowl.

I would suggest that instead of buying a filter jug from Argos you should change your subterranean geology from chalk to palaeozoic limestone and sandstone, invest in some decent hills over 1800 feet and remove 90% of the human population. Then you too could enjoy a decent cup of tea and pint of beer that doesn't taste of Katie Price's dissolved contraceptive pills.
