My empire of dirt...

Over the last week I've managed a few days working on what will be the master bedroom. Got 8 piles replaced and floor leveled up.
Dug 4 of the holes on Tuesday then it pissed down all Wednesday and part of Thursday. The holes are indoors but still half filled with water..
After talking to my go to guy, uncle @Laava , I went out and bought a wet vac to suck the water out before concreting... worked a treat!
That's half the piles done in that room.
There is a big slab of concrete over what used to be a fire place. Fuck knows why..
Anyhu smashing fuck out of it with a sledge Hamer didn't work so I've hired a heavy breaker. Got over half of it done in a few hours yesterday and will get cracking again when it's a bit more of a civilized hour.
It's a shit job but with that out the way, I can get the rest of the piles in that room done then floor it out so we can move camp and start on the other bedroom.
Found a bit of rot but nothing to serious and as the bearer itself, for some strange reason, hasn't been affected, it's a relatively easy fix..

The slab. Often if things are built around the same areas around the same time. You might find in some neighbours houses, a similar slab which might explain why it's there?

The slab was put there in the 90'S according to the date scratched into it. It's been put there to cover where a fire place was. Just unsure why they took that approach when surely it would have been easier to put a few more joists on to the existing bearers and flooring on top...
Must of been a concrete worker maybe...

There's some serious rebuilding work going on there Chiz, it'll be worth it in the end though ! (y)
You must be due some bike action by now though, even if it's just a ride out !! ;)

You need to spell things out for our Chiz... He gave his misses a very thoughtful pressie for her birthday last week and she got all emotional and went to the bedroom 😉 meanwhile he came on here wanting to know what was wrong with the lovely B 🤔 personally I blame @Laava @NZDave and the rest of the kiwi crew for not keeping him on the straight and narrow 😆
