Today i was going to go for a ride out, got my gear on wheeled the bike out, started it up and it's firing on one cylinder. Back in the garage i go, now yesterday when i was out it developed a misfire, right off with the ht leads. After a bit of head scratching:unsure: i broke the pair of them down and looked up the rubber tube that holds the metal clip that goes on the plugs. One of them had the metal wire inside the ht lead that goes to the plug had broken off inside, so i cut one of them down to get some more ht wire, connected it all up and she fired up on both cyinders.🥳 I also took the head light fairing off and it looks better imo, i had to take the headlight off of the metal plate that it's bolted too because it was in a right state. I sanded it down and gave it a nice lick of paint, i will put that on tomorrow, good job i didn't go out because it has just started pissing down.

After some work, turned out the return on the clutch master cylinder had a blockage. Still need to bleed it a few more times, the clutch is engaging but not until its fully pulled - way too much play. I'm waiting on some motul I ordered to hopefully have it all done this weeked.

Oh, AI helped me figure that out. Saved about 1500 or more, between towing and taking it to a dealer.

Off the grid for the week - away in jersey...thought it best to say after i got back just in case my house got done over...that being said i left 3 kids at home that dont actually surface til the afternoon so the house could be effectively stripped during the day and they wouldnt notice until they got turfed out of their beds...

When i got back i helped a friend with a pre TT going over of his RSVr1000
New tyres fitted.
New chainset fitted.
New plugs and caps
Oil change
And a problem [which weve not got to the bottom of yet] - randomly it will cut out - then you can start it again.....

Not the tip over sensor
All terminal unplugged, cleaned and contact spray used. Ironically we missed the coil connector which i did yesterday. Hopefully thatll be it, its not that i reckon its the coils that will need replacing but Dyna do a compact set. Apparently the internal feed on the fuel pump is known also to be shit so replaced that also.

Dropped my RSV4 over to JPR earlier this morning for a throttle body balance as im shit at it. Its all done - apparently they were out, not by much but enough to warrant doing so i was told.

Today i was in the garage to fit the newly painted headlight bracket, well happy with it, next i'm going to mask the clock and spray the back of it. It's got realy cold again, the weather has gone mental, it's meant to be warming up a bit on Friday.🥳

Picked up the RSV4, bit snappier, slightly different noise - all in all good turnout. Garaged now til the TT. My only worry is my cold shoulder i had [which took for ever to get rid of, about 6 months or so] plus the weight on my wrist which i broke....z1000 is serviced and ready to go just in case...

Best sounding v4 engine in my opinion 👌
Its one of the many reasons i still own it 15 years later....it does everything for me......
Im old as fuck so im not going to see its limit.
Nothing is better than hearing an Aprilia V4 going through the box quickshifting and getting that crack on the gear-change.
I like small bikes and its small.
Over the years ive kept adding upgrades and now its tailored perfectly to me. (Nix30 front and TTX Mk2 rear) is a marked upgrade in handling.

I use it little enough for it not to cost a kings ransom to run and for it to be 'an occasion' every time i ride it.

Sold my VW Transporter last week, so I’m looking for a car around the £10K mark, anyhoo, I’ve cogitated and searched and I quite fancy this.

Now, in the list of criteria, getting in and out of it and the comfort whilst I’m in it are quite high up, can anyone suggest an alternative?
This has come up too, but something is telling me it'd be a bad idea. Lot of car for the money though.

Anyway, it’s in this thread ‘cos I went to look at the Merc on my bike, went for a coffe and a Bakewell slice in Castleton after

This is up near my favourite new bench.
This was a week ago, shows how more photogenic the Ducati is, even from its worst side

I think the top box and the road tyres are going to have to go.

Edit
Just remembered I went for breakfast at the OK diner on the A1 near Newark with my Tuesday group before I went car shopping, my mate turned up on one of these

He's traded in his Desert X for it, he insisted I rode it home.
I’ve got to say it was an impressive machine and it really excelled in the twisties, but between the good bits it was lacking. I was glad to get back on mine.

If that jaguar has the igenium engine they fail catastrophically for fun ... dealers here won't even take them as part exchange 👀

The swingarm in the poster looks like an early Metmachex, with the eccentric adjusters.
What is the origin of your swingarm?
If only there was a thread dedicated to your build.
Is it officially finished now?
This will be it's 3rd year on the road 🥳 silly billy 🤪

Mine is as Noobster says - a Ducati 999 swing arm.

The one on the original is either a Showa (who built the frame, or Kawasaki) but they only built 2 (+ spares for two bikes I guess)
